Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

I have a Dish for two TV's. I was watching one, came to watch on the main TV, the picture was a little square up in the corner. I pressed Format and everything went off. Now it says HDM1 in the upper left hand corner and Not Supported Mode in the center. I have tried everything and cannot see anything with the Dish but can switch to antenna and get my regular channels. I don't think anything bad is wrong, I have tried all the buttons, including Recover and nothing works. Thanks Pat Champion

I unplugged the Dish connection, waited 15 seconds, and then plugged it up and it worked.

The main board. The main board controls everything and they are only design to run so long on hours. I had to replace mine about year ago, and now if we want to watch tv we watch it on a 20" if it is a reruins or nothing on. We only have ours on if there is a special to watch or watching a dvd movie.

Dlp tv has smattering of white (and just a few black) squares in upper right hand corner. Thick at corner then thining as spreads. Covers1/4 of picture. The rest of the picture is perfect.

You have a bad DMD board. It is easily replaced but not easily aligned. I would suggest having a technician look at the TV. The DMD board is the board with the million little mirros on it. The white squares indicate a few mirrors sticking in the on position reflecting the light from the lamp constantly. The black are just the opposite reflecting no light at all.

Black square in middle of picture

your captioning or "text" is on. usually inside the tv menu. if not its your cable or dish box has captioning on. black box usually means its in text mode instead of CC thus the black box rather than text

You're talking about picture-in-picture. Simply hook up a second source or split the one cable input you have now into two leads with a splitter from somewhere like Radio Shack. Then bring up the PIP and select the input. Now you have two different things to watch each from their own channel. This wont work if you have dish... But you could watch the DVD perhaps if you hook it into one of the available inputs in the back of the Tv and select that input in PIP mode.
Good Luck!

If you have DirectTV your dish is out of alignment. If you had winds or a storm it probably moved the dish. If it moved even a hair you won't get programming. Have someone watching the tv where it's looking for signal and go out and push a little on the dish and have them yell out when it starts receiving data. It really won't take much movement for it to come back on.
