Question about Intel D845HV (735858149143) Motherboard

Won't detect the hard drive

Hi,
I'm trying to fix a friends PC. The original D845HV motherboard is defunct after testing everything, so I purchased another identical board and fitted it today. The board fires up fine but won't boot the hard drive. I can get to BIOS and noticed that the board is failing to detect the HD. I've tried swapping the IDE cables, using a different power pack, checking all cables are fitted properly, swapping the processor for another P4 and checking the HD in another PC.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Marty

    Excellent!!
I've just gone through bench testing and managed to work out that I had cabled the IDE incorrectly. I was using the same cable plugged to both HD and CD ROM instead of attaching a separate IDE cable from the secondary slot on the motherboard to the CD ROM. All works now. It's just a case of putting it back together in the box.

    Thanks a load!

    Marty

I had purchased new 500GB Sata Hitachi Hard disk. I had checked with my friend system, it has detected. But in my PC it does not detected. my mother Board: P4vm800m7 v1.0 Mercury Please Help me Veera

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

Hardware initiate failed please check device.. system cant detect myh sata HDD.. need help

Hi. Thanks for your question.

Troubleshooting this problem will take few steps to complete.
  1. Please try and switch your HDD Sata cable from one port on motherboard to another available. If there is no available slot just try and disconnect your DVD drive for now and plug it into that slot.
  2. If no luck with first method you need to make sure that your Hard Drive is still operational. Take it to your friend or anyone who would let you try it in their PC.
  3. Make sure you use known good cable all the time. Buying new cable would be the best, or using available one for testing/now (dvd drive one?)
After you completed them test you should be able to tell if your cable is ok is port on motherboard ok and is it the hard drive that failed.
I hope you will get your computer working soon. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions if this is needed. Thank You for using FixYa

You must reinstall the drivers for the USB hub. You can find all of them here

Hi my ASUS K8S-MX motherboard is not detecting SATA hard drive and Sata DVD Writer. Though my IDE hard drive and DVD Writer is working fine. Please help me with this .

Two thing here that can be the issue.

1. Bad Sata controller onboard
2. Sata controller is disabled in the bios.

The Fix

1. Purchase a independent sata controller there like $25 bucks.

2. Try going into the bios under advanced and make sure its not disabled.

I sure hope this finds your Very Helpful vote! Have a Merry Christmas and a wonderul New Year!

Windows setup does not see sata drive K8VGA-m

Good day sir, if your hard drive is bad it cannot be detected, but lets review first several reasons why it cannot be detected by your motherboard;
  • check the master / slave setup, if youre hard drive is sata, this is not applicable.
  • check your connection, both data and power cable, to and from the hard drive. (ribbon ide cable or red sata data cable)
  • Still cannot be detected? try to reset your CMOS setup by using the cmos battery jumper. after reset, review the CMOS settings, and enable your IDE/SATA drives. test again.
  • Stiil doesn't work? bring it to a friend who has a PC and try to test your hard drive to any available good PC, to check if your drive is bad.
If your hard drive is good, chances are your motherboard IDE/SATA part is bad, you may need to buy a PCI to SATA/IDE card. connect this card to any available PCI slot, connect your hard drive. hope this helps.
