First of all sorry for your problem but if you ran the ohms to low it will get hot and even burn up if it dont shut itself down. I like the crossfire amps like a old cfa602 or cfa1000 they are very strong amps and underrated. I do car audio and a lot of people love this amp even the vr602 is great. If you dont have a lot of money go with a ssl3000 its about 160 on ebay

I would definately say, in the world of amplifiers you usually get what you pay for. I would recommend getting a Memphis or MTX amplifier. Go to ebay, specifically search for memphis then in the search options make sure to put in mono or 1 channel. All memphis mono block amps are 2 ohms stable. In particularly I would recommend for you the PR series. it is the Power reference series and they are really boomy for the money. Anything that has the "ST" is getting a little old so I wouldn't recommend it but It still is a good amp, just not sure how long it would last and how badly it's been beaten in the past. Good luck. If you find an amp and are unsure let me know which one and I can help verify it for you.

Amp shuts off then on

It's getting so hot that it's going into thermal protection. Turn down the gains of lighten the speaker load. The more speakers that hook up to it the more power it will put out causing the amp to overheat. Eventually it will burn up some of the output Mosfett Power Transistors.

Amp comes on then shuts down JL 500/1

what do you have hooked up to it? Subs, Speaker, so on. it sounds like it is going into protection because of improper wiring... or it was improperly wired. if it is malfunctioning you need to take it to an authorized JL audio dealer. It's going to cost some cash unless you have a warranty on it and it was installed by a liscensed technician.

MY AMP TURNS TURNS ON THE PROTECTIVE MODE

The amp is being overworked and is overheating so it is shutting down to protect itself. You could try to add a fan and point it at the amp to help keep it cool. Also make sure the amp is not located where it will get heat from an exhaust pipe under the car for example. They may have external fans that you can attatch to the amp to help cool it. The constant overheating could eventually damage the amplifier.

What are the circuit board designations (Q111, Q112, Q211, Q212...) for the parts you replaced?

Did you replace the defective parts with identical transistors?

Which transistors are heating up?

Amp gets hot

Check your speakers to make sure that they are the proper Ohmic value, and make sure your grounds are secure.

The unit is dissipating too much heat which is a sign of an impedance mismatch. In other words the full power output is not being delivered to the load (speakers), rather it is being dissipated in the source (amplifier) which as said is a sign of an impedance mismatch.

Thank you,
I hope this helps
