- Attempted solution #1 from Benimur never saw region code on TV what is unique for the ad1201 vice ad1200

- I have tried both solutions as proposed with no success.I hope the experts realize that we aare working with a ad-1201 vice ad-1200.None of the suggested displays have appeared on the the screen after the suggested entries,Which makes me believe that apex used different firmware for the ad-1201.Need more help. jornk@comcast.net

- To bad your solutions were unsuccessful but you tried hard.To take the box to a service center will cost me more than buying a multi region dvd player from amazon.
take it to the service center it will be little bit costly but they will also decode the unit permanently.so no problem in the future.just once for all.
pls do rate the solution
thanks. regards. fixya expert team

- Hi again,
Appreciate the feedback.
As far as I can gather, the 1201 has a slightly different firmware on the same chassis of an AD-1200. coolguy008 has posted a link here that details the two different versions of the same AD-1200. He was kind enough to post the first probable region free code, my posting was a probable alternative both from the same source here. Since the alternative did not address your concern, perhaps coolguy008's posted method might just do the trick.
Open tray
press 8 4 2 1 (you will see -'s appear top left of screen)
Menu appears for region and Macrovision
Use up/down keys to select Region/Macrovision
Use Enter to change region/Macrovision on/off
A PAL region 2 disk played fine when switched to region 9 (Really region 0 , ie region-free)
Have not yet tested Macrovision
