1 Answer

Frustration When my monitor goes to sleep and than I wake it up I than see only one line of pixels off the desktop, And than I have to restart it by giving it a hard shutdown. I'm guessing that is'nt good also there is a recurring problem, there is a horizontal black line that makes the bottom prat of the screen disappear when I am in Photoshop the bottom part is where some of the workspace is, now I can't use it without difficulty, I am very frustrated, I have been reading about the black line is there a program to fix it, do I need a new motherboard, monitor?  Thank you for you help.

It must be your video card not working properly. Check first if the monitor cable is firmly inserted in the video port before contemplating of changing your video card or buying a new monitor.

Monitor stuck in safe power mode

"Power Save Mode" but it tells you to press a key or whatever?

were you able to reboot the PC?

if you can reboot the PC but no screen is showing up during Windows load (you can see the hard drive activity LED lighting up and your hard drive spinning), then, youre probably have a broken monitor.

Or if your problem is you cannot wake from power saving mode (after your PC goes to sleep, then its probably just the driver for your video card). VISTA has some issues with certain drivers that the PC cannot wake from sleep. http://www.ezsystemrepairs.com/

I just added a LCD monitor to my eMachines ET1331G desktop computer. Everything worked fine until I left it on for a day. The computer went into sleep mode and now I can't get it to wake up. I've trie

You should be able to just press the main system unit power button to wake up your 'sleeping' computer which will then resume your Windows desktop and bring you back to the Login panel if you have a password set for your account.

I turn the computer on. the monitor goes to sleep and then i can't turn it off

go to the control panel select power options then select chose when the computer sleeps and set it to never then if you want your monitor to switch off when your not using it select when to turn off display and set the amount of time you want it to wait. then all you have to do to wake it is wiggle the mouse. i dont use the sleep options because i have always found it troublesome. ok hope that helps let me know how you go.

Laptop goes into permanent sleep mode, etc

If you can restart it and it starts up fine, then I would go into the power settings and disable sleep mode. Every computer is different on how to wake a sleeping computer, so you could read through your manuals and find out for yours, but I just disable sleep mode on all computers so i dont have to hassle with it.

Monitor goes into sleep mode after a few seconds

This is normaly cause by incorrect power management settings.

check power management setting in both windows and your computers bios

you will not need to worry about the power management settings of the bios when an operating system such as windows is loaded.

Monitor will not restart after sleep mode

Hi,
it's not a hardware-problem - it's a windows feature smile_wink.gif - (and it really is one !) - please try this:
To prevent a USB mouse from waking your PC

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.

2. In the list of device categories, expand Mice and other pointing devices.

3. Right-click the entry for the USB mouse, and then click Properties.

4. On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow this device to wake the computer check box.

5. Click OK.
Don't forget to do this with your mouse + keyboard !
