.exe files aint compatable on my Thera

Was trying to put some games on my Thera. I found a website that has some games, they say will work on a Thera but nothing on how to load the games. I put the games on my thera through the "my documents" and then tried to open them with the "file explorer" and it said the .exe file is not compatable. Am I loading these right or what do I need to do? Thanks

The file may be a desktop installer. Connect your pocketpc to the desktop, make sure Activesync is running, then run that .exe file on the desktop. The installer and activesync will install the program for you.

Hello,

First install MOO2 on a computer were it runs and copy the entire micropose directory to the program files (x86) directory.

Then copy the dplayx.dll file from the windows\sysWOW64 directory and renamed it dplay.dll and put it back in the sysWOW64 directory (be sure the dplayx.dll file is still there) or if you have the 32 bit version it should be found in the system32 directory (I am guessing, but you will need a dplay.dll)

Found this great post about getting MOO2 to run in Windows 7, and even with the compatibility enabled it still has a graphics palette problem. The reason is because of Windows explorer, and to fix the problem you need to disable explorer.

I know this can be a little too much for some, there is an easier way.

Simply create a notepad file on your desktop, and paste the following.

(If you have 32-bit version of Windows 7.)

TASKKILL /F /IM "explorer.exe"
cd C:\"Program Files"\Microprose\Orion2
start /w C:\"Program Files"\Microprose\Orion2\Orion95.exe
start C:\Windows\explorer.exe

(Copy and paste below if you have 64-bit)

TASKKILL /F /IM "explorer.exe"
cd C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Microprose\Orion2
start /w C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Microprose\Orion2\Orion95.exe
start C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Make sure you rename the text file to Moo2.bat, then it will launch Moo2 and disable explorer. Moo2 plays perfectly fine this way, even without any of the compatibility enabled.

The Batch file will also restore your explorer when you exit the game.

Alternatively, you could use DosBox to play the game.

Here is how I managed to get it to work on Windows 7.

Download the patch at www.gspsupport.co.UK/media/patches/Medieval_Lords.exe

1. Save the file Medieval_Lords.exe to your desktop
2. Right click on the Medieval_Lords.exe on your desktop and left click 'Cut'
3. Go to C:\Program Files\Monte Cristo\Medieval Lords\BIN
4. Right click in this folder and left click 'Paste', this will ask you to replace the Medieval_Lords.exe , click 'Yes' .
5. Go to C:\Program Files\Monte Cristo\BIN\DATA\SHADER
6. Rename the file named StdMatDX8.fx.bin from "StdMatDX8.fx.bin" to "StdMatDX8.fx"
7. Run program as administrator

Try opening the game in compatibility mode by right clicking on the shortcut, clicking properties, clicking the compatibility tab/button and setting it to Windows Xp, or something lower.

Upgrade for settlers downloads but won't run

I had this issue as well. Download the patch directly from the website, and run it locally. Afterwards the updater won't find a newer patch, and goes directly to the game. I don't know whether this will break again once a new patch is released, but you should be able to manually install it again at that time. Patches can be found at http://www.ubi.com/US/default.aspx under support --> patches.

This link may take you directly to the right place.

Installed act of war direct action and is tells me

*install patch V1.06
*close all other programs running on the backround
*run the game with with administrator account or with administrator rights
*run the game exe with Windows XP compatibility mode (if you are running Vista/Win7)
*There are a lot of reports that this game will not like more than 3GB of RAM, so limit RAM size to 2GB by editing Win XP (boot.ini) or Vista/Win7 (bcdedit) or by removing some memory sticks

Try installing the game in compatability mode...might work...
explore the game cd
look for the setup.exe or install.exe
right click and view properties
look for the compatability tab
under compatability click the box that says run this program in compatability mode ....make sure you choose windows xp then ok the window
now double click on the exe file that you´ve just changed and see if that works

The game was released in 1998, and was developed for Windows 95/98.

To make the game run on Windows XP, try the compatibility for the installation and after it is installed use the same steps for making the game executable file compatible.

Note: Some game ".exe" file (executable file) would let you make changes in the Compatibility option, whereas older games might not give that option at all.

You can still try to make the game compatible for installing it on the Windows Vista by following the steps below.

1. Insert the game disc in your CD-ROM drive, if the game setup or the autorun starts, exit it.

2. Open "Computer", Right Click the Cd Drive which has the game disk in it and select "Copy".

3. Go to your "Desktop" right click and then select "New" and click on "Folder" this should create a new folder on your desktop.

4. Open the New Folder and then Right Click and select "Paste".

6. After all the files are copied to the "New Folder" without any error messages then locate the file "Setup.exe" or "Setup" and right click and click on "Properties".

7. In the new window click on the "Compatibility" tab and run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows 98/ Windows Me" and then click on "Apply". (You can also try "Windows 95")

8. After applying changes double click on "Setup.exe" or "Setup" to launch the installation.

You can delete all the files copied from the CD after completing the installation

After the game is successfully installed right click on the game shortcut or the game ".exe" in the root folder of the game and click and click on "Properties".

In the new window click on the "Compatibility" tab and run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows 98/ Windows Me" and then click on "Apply". (Again, you can also try "Windows 95")

The game files need to be copied to the hard drive because the files on the game disk would not let you make changes while on the disk.

There are lot of files that need to be changed in order to get full functionality and to communicate with operating system and the hardware, hence there is no guarantee that the game might run even in cases where you will successfully install an older version of the game with the above mentioned steps.

Macromedia projector

HI,

Macromedia Projector is a utility from Adobe (formerly Macromedia) which
bundles up a Flash visual presentation into a stand-alone EXE file, so you
can display the images on a PC without the Flash Player installed. Your
anatomy CD-ROM probably used Macromedia Projector to display its anatomy
pictures.

Macromedia Projector is not compatible with Vista. In order to run the
program, you need to set the Compatibility to a previous version of Windows.

In Explorer, find the main EXE file on the CD-ROM which runs the anatomy
program. Right-click the EXE file and choose Properties from the context
menu. The Properties dialogue will appear. Choose the Compatibility Tab.
Check the checkbox in Compatibility Mode, for "Run this program in
compatibility mode for:" and choose and earlier version of Windows - Windows
98 would be a good one to try. Then click OK to save the changes. Now
double-click the EXE file, to launch the program.

Once you have set the Compatibility, Windows Vista should "remember" to run
the program in compatibility mode, so hopefully you only need to do this
once.
