HotSync interrupted; don't see all conduits on desktop hotsync

My hard drive was recently wiped and & re-installed handspring software, then upgraded to palm 4.01 or whatever. First problem is that I do not see all conduits listed on my desktop hotsync custom screen - need contacts so I can upload from my Visor to Outlook, that's the whole point! Second, the connection is established but I get a HotSync Problem error message: "HotSync operation was interrupted. Some of your data was NOT backed up. For details, tap HotSync Log on the HotSync screen." Log says "HotSync operation was terminated. Some of your data was NOT backed up. An aplication on the PC failed to respond to a confirmation query. This application may need to be restarted." I've restarted the computer, but that doesn't work. Incidentally, before the hard drive was wiped I somehow had Pocket Mirror, which I never paid for; HotSync always worked find before.

I tried all the suggestions that were offered and gave up. But then out of pure craziness I loaded the treo 600 CD that came with my Treo 600 out of curiosity. It loaded and the MS Office 2003 conduits loaded nicely and the problem appears to be solved for now. So I tested and it the Tungsten E Hotsync's feature all appear to be okay. I'm not sure if this is the best solution but it solved a very frustrating problem. The version of Hotsync that loaded is 4.1.0. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Cannot establish connection with desktop.

My problem was resolved by uninstalling Palm Desktop, then then reinstalling it. First, I had to make a copy of my Palm folder to make sure nothing was lost. Then uninstall Palm Desktop, reinstall it off the CD, and synch. And because I use Chapura Pocket Mirror XT as the interface, I had to reinstall that as well and then resynch. While talking with the Palm representative cost money and was time consuming, it was ultimately the best option. It also left me with duplicate entries which I had to clean up, but at least I'm back to synching again.

Hi,
It sounds like you have the settings wrong in the software on your desktop. If you are trying to hot sync it and your desktop software is set to sync it a different way other then by USB cable you will get that error message. Handspring visor pro on Vista


The easiest way to do this is by usb. You will need to download the 6.2 palm desktop/hotsync manager (yes, it says it will not work with your prism... I know.) Then you'll need to download pimlico's palmhotsyncsetup tool, that will allow it to work.

Can not hot sync my unit with windows vista


Palm says that it is not possible, because the software that they have does not work with Vista. However, there is a fix to this! :) For these instructions, you will need the usb cord. If you need to do it via bluetooth, or infrared (IR) or want to read further instructions, visit this link:

Can't get device to hotsync


First thought is that the cable has become defective - they do go wrong.

Assuming the visor is fine other than when hotsyncing, I suggest you reinstall the Desktop manager and hotsync manager on your PC or Mac, HAVING BACKED UP ALL FILES of course.

Sometimes the managers get corrupted and cause problems. Try that first, then check cable and finally a hard reset, assuming you have hotsynced recently and so won't lose loads of information.

I updated the Palm m130 to Z22. I lost all my addresses on the m130 whe installing the Z22. Is there anyway to retrieve the lost file?!


The solution to this problem is.. if the m130 still has all the data, then

you need to perform a custom hotsync to overwrite all files on the computer

  1. Click on the ‘Hotsync Manager’ icon and choose ‘Custom’.
  2. Highlight the ‘Datebook’ conduit and click ‘Change’.
  3. Select ‘Handheld overwrites desktop’ and click ‘OK’.
  4. Repeat these steps for the ‘Address’, ‘Todo’, ‘Memo’ and ‘System’ conduits.
  5. ‘Install’ and ‘Install Service Templates’ should be ‘Enabled’.
  6. Perform a ‘Hotsync’ operation by pressing the button on the Hotsync® Cradle, or Cable.

Now that the files are on your computer you need to sync them into the new palm

Same steps but this time Desktop Overwrites handheld

  1. Click on the ‘Hotsync Manager’ icon and choose ‘Custom’.
  2. Highlight the ‘Datebook’ conduit and click ‘Change’.
  3. Select ‘Desktop overwrites Handheld’ and click ‘OK’.
  4. Repeat these steps for the ‘Address’, ‘Todo’, ‘Memo’ and ‘System’ conduits.
  5. ‘Install’ and ‘Install Service Templates’ should be ‘Enabled’.
  6. Perform a ‘Hotsync’ operation by pressing the button on the Hotsync® Cradle, or Cable.

Originally a HotSync problem. Tried to uninstall software to reinstall. Uninstall won't work. Reinstall hangs on "updating registry"

Is Palm Desktop Required when using Outlook?


to be able to hotsync with outlook u need to install the Palm Dektop, and while installing check the option synchronize with outlook. this will install conduits that make the hotsync with outlook possible, and don't forget that only the conatcts, calendar, memos and tasks are synchronized with outlook, the rest (if it is interisting u ) will be synchronized with the PDS. good luck

Reset after every HotSync


I had the same problem. I had to do a hard reset, delte the backup folder on the computer, delete the profile and then reinstall the software. No it HotSync without reset.

It may be due to a permissions issue on the workstation running the hot sync program

3rd Party application failure


First, reinstall the 3rd party conduit and related application. Next, check with the developer of your conduits to see if they have a patch or information on their software and the new Palm Desktop. If the problem persists, try the following: 1. Backup the c:\palm directory 2. Uninstall all 3rd party conduits 3. Uninstall Palm Desktop 4. Re-install Palm Desktop 5. Re-install all 3rd conduits. 6. Synchronize to test.
