Question about Delphi Roady2 SA10085 XM Radio Receiver with Car Kit

1 Answer

Power outage in the car or at home

While driving, the power to unit goes out especially if I hit a bump and then it may come back on, if I rotate the unit down it doesn't seem to happen as often. In the house if I move it around while in the cradle, I can get it to lose power also. Seems like a bad connection internally but I don't have the right screwdriver to open it. Any suggestions would help. The unit is probably 3-4 yrs. old.

I did buy a #6 Torx bit and pulled the back off, I touched up the solder joints(2) on the DC jack and lo and behold my problem is fixed! Thanks to jtscout80 for the tip.

It's a #6 Torx screw. I just took mine apart and the DC input jack fell out, four broken solder joints.

My Delphi SkyFi2 power goes off when I hit a bump in my car

You most likely need a new dock with a solid DC jack connection. Also, there is a "lock" on the back of the dock to hold your SkyFi tuner in the dock tighter. I'd give you one of my docks if you lived nearby! Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Roady 2 intermittent power problem

I think you're right- the DC jack on the unit is either loose, broken, or has a cracked solder trace to one of it's legs. It will have to be replaced or resoldered. This could be quite a tedious job, not sure, as I've never replaced one on a unit like this. If you're an adventurous type, hoping to save some money, you might try to take the unit apart and see what you can see. Otherwise, you will have to have Delphi service it, or maybe a local computer shop might be able to do it. Make sure you get an estimate first, since repairs can be costly, sometimes justifying just going ahead and purchasing a new unit. You can try cleaning the plug with a qtip and alcohol, or other small object, in hopes of there just being oxidation on one of the plug components- that kind of thing happens frequently with car accessories (humidity can take it's toll). That's about all I can think of, hope this helps, and good luck.

When I turn on my skyfi3 it goes to detecting sd card and lockes up from that point on

Press and hold volume up and power button at the same time to do a reset and to power down. You need to update firmware from the XM website to your unit and then do a master reset. contact Delphi by phone for deatailss lon how to reset and update firmware. Do not use a card larger than 2GB either.

Delfi Myfi shuts off

Probably bad power. My roady 2 does it with poor power coming in,like on a really long extension cord with other stuff running while camping or something. Or using the car adapter with cheap 12v cig lighter to 110ac adapter.

MYFI does not powerup

You may not be getting power through the base because of a bad physical connection between the base pins and the receiver, and it won't power up because it has no battery charge. Try plugging the AC power adapter directly into the bottom of the receiver (not through the cradle). Push the adapter plug toward the back of the receiver to see if the + sign on the battery on the top right of the screen shows that it is now receiving power and charging. Alternatively, with the receiver in the base, try pulling the top of the reciever toward you to tilt the receiver forward on the pins to see if it starts charging.
