Question about Intel D850MV Motherboard

Intel Desktop Board #D850MV - front panal connections

I'm a Dummy! I totally read the pin #'s on the M.B. wrong.I thought they ran downward (1-8 & 9-16),when really its a Left to Right i.e 1-2,3-4,5-6,7-8,9-empty 10,11-12,13-empty 14 & 15-16 on the bottom.

Bookmarks menu to the left -

Click right on - Desktop Board Components
Or go to Page 11. (Adobe Reader page number box at top)

Front Panel header location marked by P, in the figure.

2) Click on the + sign to the left of -
Connecting to the Internal Headers and Connectors,
in the Bookmarks menu.

Click on - Front Panel header

Motherboard mounted in computer case, the Front Panel header is in the bottom/right corner, above the top black SATA connector.
Two rows of contact pins.

The Top row is numbered EVEN.
Starting at the Left side going across to the Right, Top row;
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is NO pin 10.

The Bottom row is numbered ODD.
Starting at the Left side going across to the Right, Bottom row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light)
Pin 1 is for the Positive wire.
If the HDD LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C. Not Connected. Probably 5 Volts DC for factory testing.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED. (Light)
This IS for a -> 2 wire LED. (Light)
Pin 2 is for the Positive wire.
If the PWR LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

To the left of the Front Panel header is a 3-pin header.
This is the Alternate Front Panel LED header.
If you have a -> 3-wire LED, it connects here.

Also wanted you to have the motherboard manual.

The pin layout look like this:

Connect: 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 5 and 7,6 and 8.
The 9 number is not in use.
Its also printed in on the mainboard with very small letters.

Intel 850MV front panel to motherboard connections


Locate J8J1 next to the battery. Pins 9-15 are unused. Pins 12 and 14 are missing.
Pins 1 and 3 are for hard drive led.
Pins 5 and 7 are for Reset.
Pins 2 and 4 are Pwr Led.
Pins 4 and 6 are Power Switch.

We dont have display driver


I'm giving you the link for all driver download for Intel D850MV motherboard from Intel.

Just selct the Operating system for whihc you need the Display driver and Download it.

Need help connecting the front panel connections to my d850mv motherboard.


Here is a link to a manual for your motherboard that should be of benefit.

If you look closely enough, the markings for all connectors are printed on the motherboard. You must look VERY carefully and perhaps use a magnifying glass. But the manual should do the trick in assisting you.

I have a question on how to add RAM to an Intel D850MV.


According to specs your board can max out at 2GB. So you could fill all slots with 512 Gb sticks, 1GB total in each bank. You should always match RAM in pairs. You should be able to add just 1 stick in second bank as long as the first 2 banks are filled.
