Hi, I'm very interested in installing an outside woodburner to heat my house and garage (work shop) I would like to install this my self but nobody will tell me what i need to buy to install it, all i need is simple drawings of like from burner to garage back to burner or from burner to house split up into rooms (zones) back to burner. I don't need evey fitting or clamp mentioned just what valves or pump or why a flanged fitting should be installed, i can figure out basics but would like working understanding of system.

Check with your installer. It could be a simple thing to fix and if there is something wrong you will have to get it repaired.

Hi: Last week, a contractor installed the above-mentioned new 16 seer heat pump, an air handler and a heat kit. Our house has 3 levels, each about 800 square fit. Initially the house would not heat above...

That is worrysome about putting refrigerant in hap hazzardly... There is a math style process involving pressures and temperatures in two locations that dictate how much ref. goes in. Anything else shows clueless installer. Too much or too little ref. will not work correctly.

Heat pumps do not work below about 33 degrees outside temp. Above that them, aux heat should not be coming on...

You would need to verify that the system you have is rated for the space that you are trying to heat...

Heat pumps heat more slowly than gas or electric, so using set back thermostat is not recommended. True economy comes from maintaining constant temprature. System has to work to hard to raise the temprature, and eats up savings in efficiency by allowing temp set back.

Hello, I have a Ruud Silhouette II Plus 2 gas furnace installed in my garage. This is the first time that I've had a gas furnace (living on my own) so I am unsure of how it actually works. One thing...

If you have gas furnace, the outside unit will not come on unless you have dual fuel/ gas and heat pump. If you can look at wires in thermostat, if you have no wires going to O or B then you don't have heat pump. Normal tstat wiring for gas furnace and air conditioner. R,W,G,Y and maybe C.

I need to know what type of heater is used that is safe for the home and can heat a house to at least 140 degrees with no one in it.

That is not possible, unless it is a woodburner or a fireplace. The woodburner is usually put outdoors and it heats the water in radiator lines that go into the house to the furnace, that might be your best option.
Most of the other units would have a safety that would kick a blower on and cool the units down before it could reach that temperature and maintain that temperature.
Trying to maintain that temperature is not good for your house.

Rheem heat pump, have to keep pushing red reset button for fan

Either the fan motor is going out OR the compressor may need a boost of power from a quick start.

When the compressor gets old, sometimes it requires a little extra power to get it going.

Your unit should be under work warranty if they installed it.

Heat Pump won't cool house becuase outside unit won't stay on

Depending on your ambient temperature and installation, it is possible that your unit has been overcharged with refrigerant which would cause high head pressure and cut out on the HP control circuit.
