Simply stated.. if it fails to cook.. you may have either a bad magnetron tube ( that's the part that generates the microwave energy that cooks the food) or the filament transformer feeding that magnetron is bad. In either case.. you're probably better off replacing the entire appliance than repairing it.. Hope that helps...

Microwave turns on when the door is open must un-plug to shut off

Is it actually heating or just making noise and acting like it's heating? (Put a cup of water inside and close the door.) IF it's actually heating, then you have a shorted relay on the main control board, and you will have to replace the board. IF it's just making noise like it's working, but it's not heating, then the problem is that one of the door switches is not working right (it's either stuck open or stuck closed).

Usually that is a sign that your magnetron tube has gone bad (shorted out).

The microwave comes on and seems to cook but does not cook . It makes a very loud humming noise and the turntable goes around but there is no heat to cook anything.

you either have a bad magnatron, that is trying to heat but won't or you could have a capacitor or diode (rectifier) that is bad. if you order a magnatron replace capacitor and diode (rectifier)

Makes a humming noise wont heat

If its making a humming noise, that means the diode is bad and should be replaced. Once replaced the microwave will begin to heat again.

Purchased microwave in 2005, just stopped heating and now its making a loud noise

if the loud noise is like a vibrating noise then it sounds like the high voltage diode.

don;t worry;
all you need to do is lubricate the fan bearings with light machine oil and make sure the fan is not hitting anything

Kenmore microwave

Since it's under warranty, they will replace or repair it at their choice, and if they replace it, it will be the same model or a "like model".

I'd ask them about it.
