SOURCE: Corrupt Date Book Fixed

Updated Instructions Simple fix for a corrupted Date Book sync error (at least it worked for me on my Treo 650). 1). Turn off 'Show Calendar Event' in the Phones 'Options - General Preferences' menu. 2). Turn off phone. 3). Set the Date/Time to the maximum limits (12/31/31) in Preferences. 4). Open the Calendar and view the maximum day 12/31/31. 5). Select 'Purge - (Delete events older then 1 week)' in the Calendars Options menu. 6). Reset the Date/Time to the current day in Preferences. 7). Hotsync (Desktop Calendar overwrites handheld). 8). Hotsync again to make sure you don’t get the error (Synchronize the files). That’s it. =============================== Outlook Calendar The attempt to open the database failed. Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize. SOURCE: Palm Tx problem after hotsync

I had the same issue, the palm is stuck in a loop,
I got mine out of this by pressing the power button while the palm was on the screen where the bar goes across the bottom, it asked me if I wanted to erase all data, I said yes, and it reboot normally, I went thru the setup, and all is o.k.
I did have to try this several times, but it eventually worked. Hope this helps, although it looks like this is an older question. I hope you have resolved it.

SOURCE: freezes while doing a hotSync

make sure your important data is backed up (by hand if necessary) and do a hard reset (back to factory specs)

this should allow to do a fresh data load from hotsync

SOURCE: I am very happy with

Hello, all you need to do is to install a program on the palm z22 handheld called DBFIXIT. It's free on cnet. When you run it,THEN TRY TO SYNCHRONIZE YOUR DATEBOOK AGAIN, it may not fix the errors (at least the free version will not), but it will tell you what the errors are. If you look at the errors, it will give the dates of the record.i used this on a palm and it worked,I had some old calendar entries that had been corrupted. I deleted them and then the synchronization worked just fine. I hope this helps.

take care.

Treo 755p Getting Stuck During HotSync

If you have another computer you could try installing the software on that to see if the Treo will sync.
This would determine if it's a computer problem or if it's your Treo.

When you unchecked the datebook to sync after uninstall/reinstalling, was it able to sync then?

I have had other palms get hung up to a certain point during the sync, but uninstalled the program or disabled it from syncing like you tried and it usually works.

Address Book Not Synching

If addressbook is presently syncing to Contacts in Outlook, then you will need to reinstall the desktop to alter the conduits. The reinstall should overlay the present version. Just select to alter conduits when requested.

How do I get the hotsync to sync everytime there is a change?

You may be used to PocketPC ActiveSync. HotSync is an asynchronous synch model - you synch upon demand but not continuously. Pocket PC devices synch all the time while in the cradle. There are advantages to both models. If you want to synch a Palm OS device, you need to press the button. There are some extra appliactions available on www.palmgear.com that will force your device to synch upon a schdule.

Cannot SYNC Outlook Calendar and Contacts

Probably one of these issues - your data is there but you are looking in the wrong place. I am trying to sync my outlook calendar and contacts via Hotsync on a Palm IIIc. It gives me the status of OK, but nothing shows up on the Palm. I have set the custom on Hotsync to desktop overwrites handheld, but still will not work. Thanks.

Problem syncing with two computers

The HotSync Manager was not designed to work this way. While it may seem like a good idea to do what you are doing, I would never consider doing it. HotSync was designed to be a one-to-one relationship between a set of data on your PC and a set on your handheld. You are giving contrary messages to each PC by using it this way. If you synch to an exchange server (via your Outlook account) you can get away with doing this because PocketMirror or the palmOne Outlook conduits and other conduits have settings you can make to notify HotSync that you are 'two-timing' :-). However if you synch to Outlook in work and then to Palm Desktop at home (I suspect this is your scenario), I disrecommend this. I recommend setting the Home PC to be a slave. That is, I set the conduits at home to be handheld overwrites desktop for the four personal information conduits - Calendar, Contacts, To Dos and Memos. Then when I am at home if I want to change some data, I add it to the handheld not on the PC. That way you have a kosher set of data that is up to date on the handheld and on your work PC. When you synch to the home PC, this data is cloned to the home PC from the handheld. You can continue as you are but you will always have some uncertainty on your data integrity. Losing precious contacts or not showing up for a key appointment is a bad deal.
