I have been having a similar problem with my external Dazzle DV editor and the 505V. All attempts to convert mpegs to Real media format have resulted in Real Media audio only files.I have successfully encoded the mpegs by converting to AVi files, then using Windows Media Encorder to convert to Microsoft's ASF format. It's time consuming, though.

If you can play the movie back, then it has been recorded as a genuine F505V-compatible file. That being the case, then either your PC and Windows is not recognizing the .MPG file format for some oddball reason, or you are most likely looking in the wrong folder.

Did you go to Mssony directory and Moml0001 folder to look for the mpg file? I have a F505V and it works fine with my USB in Windows 98.

I have a jvc digital camera , How can I down or op load my movies? demodan.

Camera is required to shoot the movie but then to upload you might need to transfer your movies to a computer which must be linked to the internet. Now based on what site you need to upload , log in to the site- or UTUBE- and connect to the UPLOAD link to complete the process. Similarily you can download to the PC the required files.

Video files don't upload

Windows XP? Are you using windows movie maker (WMM) to import them? I begin by copying the ".mod" files to my computer off the flash card which I insert into my printer. THe software Canon provides is useless. Next I change the file extension to ".MPG". Next open WMM, import video file, but when it starts doing so choose cancel. I don't know why that is. If you let it continue the import it seems to lock up. It will then let you drag and drop that video clip onto a movie.

did you try to install the driver of your camcorder to your pc? if not then install it and it should be working for transfering videos. Use Ulead movie maker to upload your videos to your pc. after editing the whole videos save it with any types of videos. hope that helps!

My Pictures glitch

you have more than enough hardware setup to enjoy your pictures... maybe your camera is going to sleep mode during transfer? check your battery and make sure your camera can sustain the time to transfer all your picture from cam to computer.

don't upload directly from camera... save the images in your pc first then upload from your pc.

depending on needs... if you just want to show pictures online, not for printing... i would suggest to create a duplicate and resize the duplicate image so that you have smaller files during upload... this will speed up the speed significantly.

Trouble transferring video onto PC

First thing to try is updating the picture package software(assuming you have windows XP); http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRDVD403&UpdateType=Everything&SelectOS=7 Probably worth uninstalling and reinstalling the program before applying the update. The update doesn't claim to fix your issue, but try it anyway, there are sometimes additional parts to these updates. Here is the link for the user manual if you need it; http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DCRDVD403®ion_id=1 Check page 100 - USB speed setting - see if that makes a difference. Check page 86, it has contact links for pixela, who support the software. If you record a movie, then finalise the disc before trying to transfer the video, this should stop any recording over information without formatting the disc first. then put the disk into your pc dvd drive instead of using the cable link. You should then be able to view the movies using most media player programs. Try a dvd on which there are only movie files, no still images - see if you get the same problem. Hope this helps, please ask again if you still have a problem :)
