HP OfficeJet 5610 leaves large blank areas

Hello!

My printer began to leave large blank horizontal areas. I changed cartridges and cleaned contacts inside and out. Printer then printed some pages which were missing dots overall. Now it leaves almost the entire page blank.

Try flushing out the cartridges using the HP toolkit located in your control panel of your printer. Move the mouse over to your printer, and press properties, press the printing preferences button, then select the services tab, and press the service this device button. Press the clean ink cartridges button.

If they appear missing still, then it could be the nozzles are clogged in the ink jets or the the ribbon cables are shorted in the printer carriage.

Its the problem of the faulty ring encoder

Posted on Aug 30, 2008

  • tech expert12 Aug 30, 2008

in hp printers there is a ring encoder which is supported by the lens .the lens reads the encoder and takes care of the printer movement accordingly.if the encoder is faulty it misaligns the printer paper movement.

replacing the ring encoder will solve the problem.

    pls do rate the solution

    thanks.

First thing you have to do is run the clean print cartridge utility. You can find it in the Printers and Faxes in the Control Panel, Right Click printer Icon and select Properties and Click on Printing Preferences . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon. Select Clean the Print Cartridge(s). If still the same thing. Clean the cartridge itself by using clean cotton swab dipped in clean distilled/ filtered water. Check this image: c00217862.jpg 1 - Clean in the cross-hatched area only 2 - Do NOT touch the nozzle plate 3 - Do NOT touch the copper-colored contacts Do this on both cartridges. Let the cartridge dry for five minutes or use a new swab to dry the cleaned areas before you reinsert the cartridges. If problems persists, change the cartridge.

My HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer keeps randomly popping up with cartridge error. Take the out then reinsert to no avail. changed with new. still keeps popping up

If the "new" cartridges were brand new HP oem cartridges, there are two things I would do. First, take out the cartridges and inspect the contact area (where the electrical in the printer meets the electrical on the cartridge) and make sure there is no dirt or ink on the contacts. Secondly, remove both of the cartridges, close the lid, and pull out the power cord while the printer is on. Wait at least 10 minutes, plug in, power up and wait until it is done making noises. Open the lid and insert the black cartridge first(important!) and then the color. If this doesn't take care of the issue, replace the printer. (If you're sure the carts were brand-new)

Printer says-

Remove the Cartridge.
Clean the Electrical ( golden ) contacts using lint free cloth.
Clean the Contacts inside the Cartridge slot.
Put then back in the Printer and follow the instructions on the Printer Screen.
If this does not resolve.. Contact HP Support if you are using Genuine HP Cartridge for more Help.

Hp officejet 5610 All-in-one having 'cartridge error', need help to solve it. thank you.

Remove both cartridges and clean the electrical contacts with a dry cloth. Clean the contacts in the carriage, inside the product too. Put the cartridges back in.
If that doesn't work, remove the black cartridge from the printer and try to print something. If the color one prints, you need to change the black cartridge. If the color one won't print, and the black does, then you need to change the color cartridge.

Hi my hp 5610 officejet says "Cartridge error: refer to device documentation to troubleshoot."

I had this once and it turned out to be a stray piece of tape on one of the contact points on one of the cartridges.

My suggestion would be to get a strong flashlight and inspect both the back of the cartridge(s) and the printers cartridge location slot (copper contact points) where the cartridge gets inserted.

Also get some high quality alcohol and Q-tips and, with the power off, clean both the cartridge contacts and the printers cartridge holder contacts. Let both dry before powering up.

Other than that, I suppose it could be a bad or incorrect cartridge type or perhaps even something in the printer.

Hope this helps... good luck!

Everything prints blank, but the ink is fairly new and there are no errors showing up on the screen of my HP 5610 all-in-one printer/ copier/ fax

Hi !

As you are using HP officejet 5610 printer, so perform the following steps on the printer to print a self test report to check the functionality of the printer.

Press Setup on the All-in-One then Press 2 then press 6.

If you are unable to perform the above steps, then try to make a copy using the scanner glass ( By placing a text document face down on the scanner glass and then press color copy button.).

If the printer make a copy or prints the self test page, then it confirms that the printer is working fine.

The issue could be with the software side. However, if the printer again prints the blank page, when you try to make a copy or printing a self test, then the issue is with the print cartridges.

Be sure that you are using the Hp genuine ink cartridges not refiled nor re-manufacture. Check the expiry date printed on both the print cartridges.

If all are correct, then perform the below steps to clean the print cartridges.

1. Using a clean, dry lint-free cloth (a coffee filter works well), wipe the cartridges , from the top to the bottom.
2. The contact area of the cartridge should be rubbed briskly to remove the waxy lubricant material from the gold contacts.
3. The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, gently wipe the contacts, from the top to the bottom.

Then perform the below steps to power cycle the All-in-One unit.

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Disconnect power cable from All-in-One and also from wall outlet.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power cable to All-in-One and also to wall outlet.

Then insert the print cartridges and try to make a copy and check for the result.

Please revert back to me if the issue occurs again.

With regards.
Mike
