Question about Sony KDS-R50XBR1 50" HDTV
I noticed yo posted a message about have fan problems on your Sony KDS0R50XBR1 and how you just used a screw driver to move the fan and it started up. Well I am having the same issue. That work around fixed the problem but the fan needs to be replaced and I noticed in a post that you had found one for $25.00 but were not sure if it was the right one. I am also looking for to a replacement to the big fan you can see on the back of the tv and I was wondering if you ever found the right replacement fan and if so where you found it. I need to order one also.
Thanks for any help you can give. -Richard

Glad I could help. The screwdriver trick worked but it was really inconvenient to keep pulling the TV out to get behind it. I eventually found the part at Sears Parts Direct. This link should take you there. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/displayPartDetailAction.action?partNumber=883586011&productGroupId=0057&supplierId=528&brandId=x&documentId=50027432&keySuffixId=NA&modelNumber=x&keyId=051&pageId=00002&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=KDS-R50XBR1&backToLink=Return%20to%20Part%20List
The part number is 883586011. It is nothing more than a computer case fan but it has a special connection for power. I used express shipping but it still took them almost 3 weeks to get me the part. The site claims they have them in stock but it said that when I ordered to. Installing the fan was very easy and it worked like a charm. My local authorized SONY repair place wanted $99 to come out, $125 per hour and like $50 for the fan. Even with expedited shipping the fan costed under $40 and about 10 minutes of my time to put it in. I think I chose the wrong career. Good luck!

Another quick fix besides using a screwdriver to actually take the fan out is to simply use a hair dryer to get the fan moving again. This normally unsticks it and will get you another few days of having a working television until your new replacement fan comes in the mail.
