Hello Again! Thank you for trying to help me figure this out! It is very frustrating! To answer your question, Yes, my laptop connects to the 2wire, wireless connection. ~Signal strength is "Excellent", and I have NO problems whatsoever with the 2wire and my laptop. A few weeks back, I researched this problem and found that I am not the only one with the iPhone / 2wire problem. There was ONE "Solution", but the "fix" was not very clear, and I was not successful in following the directions. I book marked the web site, but cannot find it! I'll keep looking and if I find it, if you don't mind, I'd like to pass the info on to you and maybe you can help me figure it out? Thanks again for your time! I greatly appreciate it!!! ~Colleen PS. Off the subject, but, can you tell me step by step instructions on how to put my pic up on my profile
I too found that not only the iPhone but also MacBooks were having this same problem with 2wire devices. I think I saw the page you were speaking about, and I'll let you know on my next message.
As far as the Profile Picture, I'd be glad to help.
1. Select the picture you'd like to use and be sure it is saved on your computer in a place you can easily find it. Also be sure it is saved in either jpg, gif, or png, and not larger than 50kb.
2. Be sure you are logged on to the FixYa website and then click on "My Profile" at the top of the page.
3. On the right hand column, look for "Useful Links' and click on "Edit Profile".
4. Scroll down to where it says "Upload Personal Image" and click on "Browse". This is where you will browse for the picture you saved earlier. Select that picture and click on "Open".
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Submit". If the image passed the size restrictions, then it should instantly appear on your profile. If it was too large, then you will need to go into a photo editing program to resize it so it's not larger than 50KB.
Let me know if this worked. Good Luck.
I'm not sure if this is the page you were talking about, but it is similar to a few floating about the web.

Unlike this site, most of the other sites recommend lowering the Security Settings on your router so that the iPhone can connect to the 2wire Router. While I would Never recommend this in a normal situation, I think it would be acceptable in your situation since you are not surrounded by any other houses. You had mentioned that you live on 100 acres, and the 2wire device should only reach about 300 feet roughly. So I'm not concerned about someone outside hacking into your network. In a city environment, that would be a different situation.
But we will try the above fix first and see if it works before going to the lower security settings.
Ok, now the nitty gritty... :)
Did you install the 2wire device, or did you have someone come out and install it?
If you did set up the 2wire device, are you familiar with logging into the 2wire device to set up your wireless connection? (I want to know your experience level so I know where to start)
Are you chatting with me using the Laptop over the Wireless Connection, or on a Desktop computer using a Network Cable connection? (If the wireless network stops responding, I don't want to loose contact with you)
Thanks for your patience Colleen, and we'll talk again soon.
Sounds like you know quite a bit more than I had hoped for... :-) I'm impressed!
Ok, for starters, it would be a good idea to go ahead and plug into the CAT5 cable to start. This will allow us to log onto the Router and Make some changes.
When you have that done, open a browser window and in the address bar type the following:
http://gateway.2wire.net or http://192.168.1.254
Either of these should bring you to the Router's Home Page.
Then click on the Home Networking tab at the top of the 2Wire Home page.
Click EDIT SETTINGS located on the right panel (Status at a Glance) under the Wireless Settings heading.
On this new page, check the Wireless Channel. Change it to 11.
Make sure Enable SSID Broadcast is Checked
Make sure Wireless Network Security is Checked
For Authentication, select "wpa2-psk"
Select "Use Custom Phrase Passphrase" and Enter a Password of your choice in the Box. (This is Case Sensitive, so be sure your CAPS LOCK key is off.) It does not have to be extremely secure, just 6-8 characters will do, since you live in an area without any neighbors.
Under Additional Settings, be sure to have the following:
Wireless Mode: 802.11b/g
DTIM Period (seconds): 1
Maximum Connection Rate: 54Mbps
Power Setting: 10
Go to the bottom of the page and click "Save"
Now try your iPhone again. Be sure to use the NEW password you selected above.
If it does not connect now, let me know and we will walk through deleting the old Network setup on your iPhone.
Your Laptop will also need to use the new Security Settings. If it does not make sense to you when you get there, let me know. Most likely changes it will need are the Channel (11), Authentication Type (wpa2-psk, sometimes called wpa2 Personal), and your new Password.
Thanks again, and let me know how it turns out. :)

HEY! Thanks for helping me get my profile pic up!

Hey! YEP! That's THE "discussion / fix" I was telling you about! (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa...)
I have minimal experience with setting up wireless connection. Could always figure it out and have helped family and friends with theirs... ( - Although I did end up calling AT&T and having them walk me thru it (for my laptop It's usually EASY!, but this 2wire has been a bugger!)
I am chatting with you via my laptop, BUT, if I do lose wireless connection, I can just plug in the CAT5.
Thank YOU for YOUR patience! You've been FABULOUS!
