Question about NetGear ProSafe FS116P 16 Port 10/100 Desktop Switch with 8 Port PoE switch 16 ports (S4438405)

NetGear ProSafe FS116P 16 Port... Problem:

When I Plug in my FS116 it works fine for a few hours than once it warms up all the LED's start to flash and it loses connectivity. The power seems to go from 12vdc to 6 vdc, but the output from my plug in xfrmr remains steady at 12vdc . Maybe a bad voltage regulator ? Whats your diagnosis ? I wish I could get a schematic so I could troubleshoot it .

I had the same issue with the 8 port prosafe GS108.
open the case, look for the small (barel like shape) capacitors near the power connector.
Their top is mostly silver and should be FLAT, if it is uneven or slightly expanded as if ready to explode, that is the one that need replacement.
Best source is any old motherboard or if you prefer, buy a couple new ones.
6.3 Volt, 1000mF (micro Farad)

If you cannot determin which one is gone, just replace both or how many your switch has.

How to fix netgear Prosafe 16 port Model #FS116 some light out

Power off, wait a couple of minutes (seriously, give it time to discharge) and power back on. If the problem is still there, it's broken - toss it and replace.

Is it just the link lights or is it the ports? If it's just the link lights you could either ignore the problem or open the case and check for a damaged earth.

Hi I would like o hook up a netgear prosafe 8port gigabit switch to my pc and run an ethernet cable which is allready hardwired to my sony bluray player so I can enjoy netflix

It would be much easier to use a simpler device, namely any Netgear 10/100 wireless router.

Cable-modem (or DSL-modem) --> Router's WAN port

Router's LAN port #1 --> your desktop computer
Router's LAN port #2 --> your Sony player
Router's wireless adapter --> your iPod Touch's WiFi adapter

Since the cable-modem (or DSL-modem) is only delivering 5 to 25 Mbits/second to your router,
unless you are paying a _lot_ of money per month to your ISP,
there's no need to buy/use expensive "gigabit" equipment.

I have a netgear prosage fs116e 16 port switch. It is connected to a data jack and goes to one port on a switch. I have 8 computers setup on it using all the same VLAN but copying or downloading anything...

this is only a 10/100 switch so it is not exactly fast. you should plug a laptop directly into the router and perform a speed test then perform the same test from the switch. www.speedtest.net is a useful site for this, if there is a lot of difference. then try a new cable. if the fault persists purchase a gigabite switch

I can't connect to internet via my tv all the sudden . I streamed a movie on netflix just fine just yesterday . Today it won't connect . I checked allt he wires and connections to the computer and modem...

Here are a few things to try:
- Remove all the devices plugged into the netgear and leave only the TV and Internet connection
- Swap the cable for the TV Internet connection
- Try a different port on the netgear
- Monitor the activity lights on the netgear

Are you still able to connect to netfix via a computer?

Post any findings

Netgear JGS524 switch Power is on 24 port led is on but network is not working

I suggest that you factory default the switch in case some security settings or Vlan's/STP have been enabled. Turn off Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) if yiu can access the switch. Check that you ahve no loops in the cabling.

Link/ACT light bright but speed light off on 1 port what causes this

Normally, when the port light if off ... that wire is disconnected ... or the computer is completely off. Do you have connectivity on this link? I think not. If you do, (and this wold be very unlikely) the led is defective.
