Presumably this question has nothing to do with a PDA?

Rust can be easily removed from steel and iron parts with a gel containing phosphoric acid. This can be obtained from any auto or hardware shop.

Take care to follow the safety instructions and keep well away from children and animals. Always wear goggles and gloves as it is very corrosive to eyes and skin!

After treating with the gel, wash and dry the parts then cover with wax or a clear lacquer.

    As an afterthought.....

if it is an electric iron you are descrbing, make sure you unplug it from the mains before doing any cleaning. Also there will be no need to wax or lacquer. Take great care that you do not get the cleaner near the electrical conections or plastic parts.

Iron has no steam

It could just be blocked. To unblick you can pour vinigar in the iron, then switch on as normal. Put iron to cleaning mode if it has the option, or else tilt the iron to let it start steaming. The vinigar should clear the blockage and iron should work normally if the internals are not damaged.

Tip

Cleaning a Steam Iron White Scale and Brown Water

If you are having problems with your steam iron spitting out brown water or white scale all over your clothing, then you need to read this tip.

Both of these problems are caused by poor quality water being used in your steam iron.
The problems are different in that they are caused by two different types of poor water quality. The brown coloring of the water is usually caused by organic matter or iron mineral in your tap water.

If you are getting white scale on your clothing from your iron then it is usually because of calcium or other minerals in your tap water.

Either of these problems can also contribute to spitting or leaking of the iron when in use.

To clean the inside of the iron you must first empty all the water from the iron. Then fill the iron half full with bottled spring water and then fill to full with vinegar. Run the iron at its hottest setting for 15 minutes and then drain the solution. Fill again with just the bottled spring water. Reheat and then empty. After removing all of the water, turn on the iron and let it sit in the horizontal position for a few seconds to evaporate the last of the water. This will not hurt your iron, but will remove all the moisture before storage.

To keep your iron working well, use bottled spring water, and remember to remove all water before storing your iron. Always allow the iron to cool and store it on its heel.
Using the right water will prolong the life of your iron. Commercial de-scaling cleaners are hard on the inside of the iron and can cause leaks. Do not use distilled water, as it is too pure and will not produce much if any steam.

I get lots of brown stained clothes when i use my tefal steam generator iron have tried to de-scale it using the hose and then using 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and it still keeps happening anyone...

Ok. sounds like you have lots of iron( Fe) in your water. You must always use only distilled water in the unit or you will get stains and eventual failure of the unit. The other possibility is contamination of the ironing surface or ironing spray product. 250 Pounds is the most expensive iron I have ever heard of outside of a commercial model,so it would certainly be worth taking to a shop for checking if nothing else works. I wish you good fortune, farmerbear at FixYa.com

Our iron keeps shutting off and on. It then spurts out brown liquid from the iron. It is on my wall and it stains our clothes

the brown liquid is rust from leaving the water in the iron. Always dump the water out when you are done ironing. You need to run a descaler through it. you can purchase descaler online. The shutting off and on could be a loose wire.
