are you able to go online if the modem and the computer is directly connected using the ethernet cable ?

    Here's what you have :

    • 1 RJ-11 ADSL port (for the phone cord)

    • 4 RJ-45 10/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet LAN switch ports with auto MDI/MDIX (for ethernet cable going to the computer)

    • Built-in 802.11g WLAN (wi-fi)

    • Console port (don't mind)
The issue that are experiencing is - While the ethernet cables are securely connected, does it say on your computer that the ethernet cable is not connected ?

    OR

Is it the Installation Program telling you about the error / warning message ?

That means that you are using the installer for the modem. This might be the one causing the problem.

While plugged in to your ADSL modem router

Click start then run then type in CMD in the command prompt type in IPCONFIG if it does not show media state disconnected then the drivers are ok. What is the IP that you get and the GATEWAY.

Take note of the gateway. Open your internet explorer browser then type in the GATEWAY address in the address bar.

AFter that call your ISP and ask for the VCI VPI settings as well as the ENCAPSULATION. Just enter that into the modem and you should be ok.

DONT USE THE INSTALLATION CDS any longer

Scrap this instruction "AFter that call your ISP and ask for the VCI VPI settings as well as the ENCAPSULATION. Just enter that into the modem and you should be ok. "Scrap this instruction

Connect the modem to the router internet port. Then in the page on the browser just select the settings for your provider and save your settings.

Sometimes you need to connect the cable to the router, then restart the system while its connected so as it can give it the default ip address for set up and engage the lan cable

Hi,
When you plug in the internet cable directly to the system , are you able to go online. on the computer. If no there could be a problem with the NIC card on the computer.
Could you give the, the exact model of the broadband router.

Thanks

    Hi,

In case you want to configure it using the USB cable on the wireless router , you need the USB driver for the same. The same can be downloaded from the following website

    http://tinyurl.com/3a7rmu

The above link also provides the quick installation guide , that would help you configure the router aswell.

If you need furthur instructions feel free to ask again

    Thanks

Ensure the cable is plugged on one of the ports 1..4, try a replacement cable.

Ensure the cable is plugged on one of the ports numbered from 1 to 4, some router has an additional Ethernet RJ45 socket for WAN.
Try a replacement cable, usually it is a Cat.6 Ethernet cable, terminated with RJ45 connector (slightly bigger than phone RJ11).
Check on Windows (or mac or linux) that the ethernet card is working.
Check on device manager that the network card does not have a yellow sign on it.

Try also reinstalling ethernet card drivers.
Keep drivers ready , either from disk or download.
Go to device manager and remove Network Adapter.
    Restart computer and reinstall drivers.
If network card works on a different router or network device (hub, switch) then you do not need to install the drivers.

If your computer is telling you "no network connection / cable unplugged".

First you need to try a replacement cable, see if port led corresponding to port where cable is connecting on router is lit on.
If your computer card has a led near to the socket, this must also be on.

Here is download for the driver: Softpedia Mirror (US)
Download, unzip and run the drivers for adapter card after you test the cable.

To use wireless the router must be configured first.
If wireless on this router is already configured, yes you install an USB wireless adapter (install drivers first), put in encryption key when asked, and both laptop or PC can connect to router through wireless.

If router wireless is not configured yet you need to access router with a cable to configure it.

If your laptop has a LAN (ethernet) port connect it to the router with a cable. The cable must be working. If you use same cable and it is not even working on the laptop then the cable is probably faulty.

First connect to it via wired Ethernet. Now open a Command Prompt and key ipconfig /all. The address of the Default Gateway is the address of the router. Key that address into a browser and you will be taken to the router's Home Page. You should find how to disable firewall from there.

Wht should i do to conenct to internet

1. Uninstall or disable all Internet-sharing applications, proxy software and security software such as anti-virus programs or firewalls. Although every program is different, if you choose to uninstall one, you can typically do so by clicking "Start," "Control Panel" and "Add/Remove Software" and then selecting the software you wish to remove. Because Homeportal 1000 comes with its own versions of these programs, this step is essential to avoid conflicts.

2. Connect Homeportal's AC power adapter to the back of your router, and then plug it into a power outlet. The green power light should come on.

3. Connect the router to your
computer. If you're using Ethernet, connect the Ethernet cable to both the router and the Ethernet jack on the back of your computer. If you plan to use USB, follow the same procedure using the USB cable and ports, instead. For a wireless connection, ensure that your wireless card is correctly installed on your PC.

4. Connect the phone cable to the back of your router and then plug it into a phone jack. This will allow the Homeportal 1000 to receive DSL signals from the phone company.

5. Place the Homeportal 1000 installation CD into your CD drive and follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary software and until finish installation.

We are now ready to browse a website.

Can't get it to reinstall

You must reset the router first. Hold the reset button at the back of your router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 1 minute then plug it back in. In setting it up, make sure to use a good ethernet cable and disable any firewall on your computer. Good luck

1) Are you sure you're connecting to YOUR wireless network? From my own house, I can access 5 different wi-fi networks, 3 of them unsecured. I've even logged into two of them, unintentionally.

2) Check all of your cabling connections that they are tight and
secured. This includes the cables from the wall to your modem,
between the router and modem, and from the router
to your PC. Ensure that your LEDs are not lit Red or not at all.

3) Ensure that you are using Ethernet cables and not telephone
cables between the router and PC. Ethernet
cables use a wider RJ-45 style plug using 8 wires where
telephone style plugs use the smaller RJ-11 style plug using 4 to
6 wires.

4) Ensure that your Ethernet adapter is enabled. Check the System
Tray at the bottom right of your display to see an icon that looks
like a monitor. You can click on this to see the status of
your Ethernet adapter. Also in Control Panel > Network and
Dial-Up Connections, you can examine the state of your Ethernet
adapter.

5) Firewalls. Your desktop firewall(s) may be blocking your internet access. Check them.

6) You may not be completely blocked (only web traffic - port 80 - blocked). Go to Start > Run and type CMD. At the DOS prompt, type ping 192.168.1.1 (should be the default IP address of your router). If you get a response, your PC is talking to the router. If you get "timed out", then they are not talking, for some reason. If successful, try pinging an external address, something like ping www.fixya.com, and see what happens.

Zyxel P660HW with vista issues

If you are connecting via usb you will need to install all software and drivers on your pc before plugging modem in. If you did install them already you may need to reinstall
If you connect through ethernet (RJ45 terminated network cable), you may have a firewall preventing regular acess to network.

solutions

1) restart pc and modem it may work just with this

2)USB only: reinstall all modem software, then restart all.

3)Ethernet only (network cable), |Restart all and disable firewall. If this does not work you may need to change network settings on your computer (fo example change IP from static to dynamic).

Connecting to my DIR625

One thing you might want to check is your firewall settings. Not the windows firewall but 3rd party firewall like Norton Internet Security. It will block your connection if it detects a different network. Also check the LED lights on the router, if you plug in an ethernet cable, does the light lite up on the corresondping Lan.

Hi Like,

Unplug the router, Don't hook it to anything but you PC you are have the CD in. Use the cable that came with the unit, plug it into your pc ethernet port and one of the 4 ports marked LAN. Make sure not use the port marked WAN. Make sure you use the ethernet cable, not the USB. Power up the router, and put the easystart cd in. Once it autostarts, press the Easy Setup button on the router for about 8-10 sec. The Easy Setup on your screen should respond. From there out, follow the prompts.
For the manual, follow this link.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

The quick start should solve your setup connection issues, if you have any. Also, make sure you have your firewalls disabled. And re-enable them what you are done, to be safe!

Good Luck!
