Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

My sharp aquos flat screen tv model lc-32px5h will not turn on, it had power to but failed to start the on off light would turn red for standby and green for on but showed no picture or sound, the manual said to un-plug the socket, after doing so there was a crack sound then the tv does not register any power, Is this a common problem with this model? I have changed the plug but still no power is there a fuse inside the tv that could be blown?

No there is no fuse it sounds like you have lost the main power supply and possibly some resistors

I have a Sharp flat panel model LC-20SH4U. The units power LED light is red. No effect (sound or picture) when remote or on/off switch is activated. The LED light slightly blinks.

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.

clip_image001.jpg
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.

Hope this may help;

Regards,

A component is shorting out, and the TV is auto turning itself off for protection. Usually it is a shorted out horizontal output transistor. Only a tech can fix this.

According to Sharp it is a software problem. Engineer came, installed software update ,10 minute job.....TV worked fine for 1/2 day unfortunately: Then images turned black and white in all channels TV turned itself off, and stanby and OPC buttons started flashing. When TV came back on its own 10 mins later , screen had 2 large square staines superimposed in image (as if it was a burnt screen)...Engineer will be back next week...all quite sad really for a new TV.....will keep u posted

Sharp Aquos LC-20B6U-S TV NOW HAS NO SOUND OR PICTURE. IT APPEARS TO COME ON BUT WITH NO PICTURE OR SOUND.

This can be caused by many different things. Check power supply fuses. If ok suspect inverter board which drives screen. Check for bulging capacitors and open transformers or just find replacement cost using numbers on board. That may fixya.
