I I have recently purchased the acer aspire 5920g with hd dvd built in. I have just tried to play a hd dvd film and allready problems. Firstly I had to update the acer arcade software. I have now done this and tried to play the film again. Now i am confronted with a statement telling me i dont have the correct graphics driver. where do i go from here.

there are a few options, firstly if your tv accepts a monitor cable vga hd cable, then you can connect directly, if not you can go through a ps3 or xbox 360 or even a dvd player with a usb.....load the film onto the usb and play from the dvd player /xbox/ps3

sound like display driver resolution needs to be changed, go to control panel display and change resolution try to put same resolution as pc if video board can support resolution change should take care of problem

Is your DVD a Blueray or Just a DVD.
You can play a DVD on a blueray but the blueray will not give a good performace on a DVD. So since you are playing blueray on DVD, your computer is seeing machine code while playing and sees that the code needs updating, but doesn't know what to upgrade. And you can't change the software to a blueray because it is the laser in the machine that reads what is on the disc, not windows... but the output is read by windows Media

Hi, firstly your graphics need to be good enough to play DVDs, also you could install secondary software such as Power DVD to play your DVDs

go to control panel check settings

If it recognises cd but not dvd it means the drive is faulty. There is 2 lasers one for cd and one for dvd. The dvd laser is faulty. It also means that it is not dirty lens because it reads cd's.

go to "Windows Mobility" select external display and then set display to external only.

to play dvd films, ensure your laptop has a media-player installed. i.e windows media player 9-10-11 et,c. also you could check in My computer/control Panel/system/device manager to see if there any yellow exclamation marks, next to any devices. if there are. you,ll need to re-install drivers for the device.
