Try sourcing your TV audio from whatever source IT is watching, usually the cable box.

I have a Sony bluray surround sound and lg smart tv, I can't play my Apple TV sound through my hts, all my connections are hdmi and both systems have arc, please help?

Is your Apple TV connected to the Sony or directly to your TV? If directly connected to the Sony HTS ARC shouldn't be needed and you should have audio. If that's the case check the Apple TV settings to be sure it isn't set for s/pdif output. If connected to the TV then the TV should be able to put a s/pdif signal on the HDMI ARC pin but perhaps there's no way to assign it to the HDMI input coming from the HTS? It may be going to the ARC pin on the Apple TV HDMI input which won't give you any sound. Normally ARC is intended to put the s/pdif signal from the TV's internal tuner on the HDMI cable from the HTS so the HTS can play TV sound without having to tun a separate Toslink cable from the TV s/pdif output to the HTS. One other thing: Early HDMI cables do not include the ARC wire so be sure you have ARC capable cables. Look in your TV documentation to see if there is a way to assign the ARC output to a different incoming HDMI input if the Apple TV is connected directly to the TV. If not you may need to resort to a Toslink optical cable from your TV to an optical input on your HTS. Or actually running that cable from Apple TV to the HTS would be better since it's possible it could carry surround sound. Most TV's optical outputs are limited to the 2 channel sound the TV can accept.

I have connected the audio optical cable from my TV, but I couldn't get the koss system to work. Are there any other settings need to be set? Which channel should i use to get the sound AV1 or AV2?

AV1 & AV2 are the Video Inputs from your external devices such as DVD Player, Freeview etc.

I presume you have something connected to your TV and want to get this sound from your TV to output through your Koss.

Their should be a menu to activate the Optical Input but I can't find the manual to advise the correct menu.

I'll keep looking for a manual so if you can't find the menu let me know and I'll see what I can do to guide you in the right direction.

How to connect a vizio lcd hdtv to my 1976 kenwood KVA 503. My Vizio has no speaker outputs except a digital optical audio. I had it hooked up before and then moved and now I can't get it back...

Obviously the digital optical connector was never connected to the vintage Kenwood.

It sounds like your Vizio is NOT the actual root SOURCE of the TV audio but it's coming from a Cable Box which DOES have various audio outputs. Connect it as you would any other analog audio source (except don't use the PHONO input).

Samsung ps wx30 surround sound system. speakers are plugged in to dvd player. dvd player is connected to tv via hdmi cable. speakers only work when using dvd player and not tv/sky etc.. am i missing some...

Hi,here is my simple solution...
To listen your TV on your
samsung ps wx30 surround sound system ,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or "HDMI out " of your TV unit
** to "AUX input " or "TV" OR "Any input" of your
dvd player or "Optic Cable input" or "HDMI input"
** than just switch to respective mode on
dvd player corresponding your RCA or Optic connection or HDMI ..
.
There you go..Your TV sound is on the
dvd player By this means whatever you watch on the
TV (
tuner, satellite , Xbox , etc..) ,it's sound will come thru your
dvd player.

Hope this helps!..if more he?p requires pls let me know..
Take care and please

Does it support surround sound

Well not buit in, but it has a 92 KHz/16bit Audio DAC/96KHz/24bit decoder and coaxial digital audio output. So to get surround sound you need to connect the DVD player to your home theater receiver using the Digital coaxial/optical output connector (i.e. fiber Optic). Your home theater has to be equipped with the same type of input and you could enjoy your DVDs in surround sound soon.

Note: the optical inputs and outputs are generally capped when not in use and you will need to remove the the cap to be able to plugin your cable.

Good luck and please don't forget your thumbs-up to help me help you further. ty !

I have a panasonic viera Tc-L42D2 Tv and have a amwT342 5.1 home theater system and has it connected using the opitical cable which i was told by panasonic that the only audio connection is the opitical...

Very sorry to inform you that the digital optical socket at the back of your AMW T342 is not digital in but digital out. In other words you can connect the audio output of the AMW to another device like a AV Receiver or a Digital recorder etc and not vis versa. They have not provided a digital input and unfortunately your Panasonic TV only has an optical digital out for audio .

Optical input from Sony PS3 Playstation.

Have you tried setting the PS3 on linear PCM output instead of bitstream? The DVR 50 may not say Dolby Digital since the optical cable goes directly from the PS3 to it but you may get the surround channel output you're looking for.

Is Sony DAV-S500 optical input compatible with optical output from Pioneer DVD player DV-566K?

I don't think this has an Optical but a Coaxial connection. You might try a coaxial audio cable not optical.
