Question about Acer InviLink 802.11b (91.49C10.002) Wireless Adapter
My Acer Aspire 2920z from Singapore is loaded with vista. From Vista hardware profile, it says its wireless network adapter is broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter. I loaded a winXP and could not find the XP driver for the same hardware. How can/ where can I find and load the driver?
Thanks for your time.
Unfortunately there are no drivers for XP for your Vista equipment. It was intentionally designed to only work in the vista environment. This is Microsoft's way of strong arming people to migrate to vista against their will! They threaten the hardware manufacturers to pull licensing rights if they release XP drivers for the new equipment. You can buy an external wifi adapter, but then you have to deal with a device hanging out the side of your laptop and using up one of your usb sockets. This is the only way to get around it for the time being. The hackers are slowly writing the drivers, but there are so many different versions of equipment odds are slim that they will ever write one for your exact wifi card. I will place you on my update list and contact you if/when I find the hacked driver for you. I'm keeping a data base of 100's of people going through your exact problem. Complain vigorously to microsoft through email and tell them how you feel about them forcing you to migrate to an operating system nobody wants or needs. If enough people do maybe they will get the picture and allow the hardware manufacturers to release XP drivers. I hope you found this helpful and informative. If you want to be on my update list send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add you to my list, make sure to include your make and model laptop so I do not have to search through here for it,Thanks. As soon as I find a Verified driver that works with your system I will send you a link where you can download it from my personal server. Hope to hear from you soon,
