Can you give a bit more information. What programme are you working in ie word, powerpoint etc. Also are you saving to disc and then trying to read files on another computer or on the same laptop.

As a quick try - save file to the laptop first, then open saved file - is it still coming up as nonesense? If it opens ok then try copying to disc and see what happens when you open it from the cd.

Sorry can't really advise with the information you have given. If file opens as normal when saved directly to the laptop hard drive then it's not a problem with the actual file. If you are working on a file and then saving it directly to disc have you made sure that the disc has been formatted first?

You may not be saving the BIOS settings. Usually it's a press of F10 then it asks if you want to save and exit, say YES, then reboot. If this is not saving the settings, try going directly into your PCs boot menu, which is usually F10 or F12 at boot time. Select the CD and hit Enter, if it doesn't boot from there, you have a bad drive or it's on the wrong jumper setting.

Ssucic (comment #1) is wrong. Works fine in XP. You can also create files with...

This is a trick to make a folder invisible. We are not going to try to hide the file anywhere. In fact the folder would be right before your eyes but you can’t see it. Sounds intriguing? Actually it is very simple - just 2 steps.
Here’s how:
You can either create a new folder or choose an existing folder. While naming or renaming the folder hold [Alt] Key and enter “0160” (without the quotes). Release the [Alt] Key. You can notice that the name part of the folder is just a blank. What we have done is we have inserted a ‘Non-Breaking Space‘ as the name of the folder virtually making it appear as if the folder has no name. You can’t do this just by typing a space using the space-bar. That doesn’t work. Try it for yourself.
Now right-click on the folder and select “Properties” and choose the “Customize” tab. Click on the “Change Icon” button. Scroll along and you should find a few blank spaces. Click on any one of them and click Ok. That’s it. You can’t see the folder anymore.
Of course, if you select the folder (click on the folder), it will get highlighted

How do you copy macros created in Word 2007 to another persons pc?

Just copy the file that contains the macros (probably just a.txt file - if it isn't that open it again in Word and save it as a .txt) to a USB key and from there to wherever you want.

Export Outlook Address Book "Distribution Lists" to cd.

You can save a distribution list as a txt or rtf file which you then can open in MS Word.

1) Click on your contacts
2) double click on the distribution list to "edit/view" it.
3) Go to File -> Save As
4) Save it as a .txt or .rtf (default) file

I think my operating system needs to be reloaded I had a virus hit and now it doesn't work correctly and i want to save all my file & pictures before anyone works on my computer, how do I start?

If you have a second hard drive inside the pc you can copy them there. Otherwise you'll need to copy to a CD or USB drive. The hard part is going to be figuring out where all your files/pics are located at. You can do a search through windows explorer by extension on the whole C: drive. Ex. search for all *.pdf files for Adobe, all *.jpg for pictures. Also be sure to save your profile as it contains your IE Favorites, My Documents, My Music, etc.

Saving on CDom

cdroms are read only (cd-rom stands for compact disc read only memory). To save to cd, you would need a cd burner and a writeable cd.

I can not save my work to my portable flash drive. It will only let me save once then it will advice me to check door is closed or the disc or cd is not writable. I am trying to save on my flash drive...

Hi,

this may be because the flash drive is locked in some way so that it allows you to save only once. format te flash drive and drive again and let me know what happens.

please rate me. thank you.
