Well i changed fuel pump and you cant hear it kick on when you turn the key on and the fuel gauge gos to way over full. you can feel the fuel pump relay pick up for a sec and kick right back out. could it be the ground?
IT sounds like the fuel pump to me.You will have to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see that it has more than 50 psi.The engine needs between 50 to 60 psi to even run.I think you should just change the fuel pump.

i drove it to work and it ran great. when i shut it off and went in, i was there for about 45 mins. i came back out and started it and drove 100 yds to load some lumber, so i killed it. when i finished i went to start it it wouldnt start. it acted like it wasnt getting any fuel. i checked fuel filter and checked to see if fuel pump was pumping. i'am getting fuel up to just before carbrator.i pour alittle gas in carbrator and it runs til fuel is gone. it just wont start.
i meant throttle body
i tryed what you say about topping off tank and it still wont start
its fuel injection
i added fuel to air intake
1996 chevy p/u wont start. I cant here the fuel pump run? Could it be the rely?
What's the fuel level in the tank? A couple of things could be happening here...
1- If the fuel level is lower than full, and you fill it and the problem stops for a while, there may be a crack in the flexible line that runs from the top of the fuel sending unit to the pump (on the bottom of the tank. When fuel level gets below the crack, the pump runs but most of the fuel lands back in the tank. You will still get fuel to the engine, but not with enough pressure to inject it properly...
2- Bad fuel pressure regulator (fuel runs to it but the pressure regulator returns most of it to the tank)
3- Bad injectors/wiring/Injector drive computer : Does not inject fuel, or does not send injector pulses (Check for injector pulses with an injector noid light (available at most part/tool stores))
4- ?
Keep me posted...
