Question about Altec Lansing 621 Computer Speakers

Suddenly no sound out of left channel

For no apparent reason my left channel won't work from the speaker but will from the headphones. I swapped speakers and confirmed that it isn't the actual speaker sounds fine. I took the sub apart to check continuity and for blown fuses or a burnt component but found nothing wrong. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

I have the Altec Lansing speaker set ACS48, they are old but the right one works fine, the left one doesn't at all. I found that there is a processor in the right speaker, and I think that could be bad or the driver is not loaded for some reason, so I am lost as well....anyone? contact me at joeinslw@gmail.com if you know and have a solution Thanks.

Lost sound in left channel?

I presume you are playing a stereo cd. Plug some other device, like headphones in to see if the computer is putting out stereo. Use the same plug as the speaker system is plugged into.
I presume you have swapped the speakers to test them.
If the speakers work, and the headphones work, it's the amp.

Suddenly there is no sound in the speaker but headphone works fine..laptop is Lenovo B575

If the head phone jack works its more likely to be the problem, if you use the headphone jack a lot the connections inside it can get worn or bent out of shape--engaging the headphone jack should shut the speakers in the unit off.

Other possible reason is a bad speaker or connections.

Sound is only coming out of one side.

check speaker wires connected to amplifier try to swap it between right and left speaker do the same to audio input jack (usually RCA jack). If it still works one channel only, probably the problem is in the power amplifier

No sound from front left channel

Try swapping the connectors for front-left and front-right (just swap right at the back of the amp)

After the swap, does the front-left speaker work, and now the front-right is dead? If so, then it's a problem in the amp.
If not, then the problem is in the wiring and/or the front-left speaker itself.

Post back here with your findings, and we'll troubleshoot whichever part of the system is broken.

Sony DAV-SC8. I'm suddenly getting distortion

It sounds like the speakers themselves are the problem rather than the amp.
Although, it would be rare to have overdriven/blown the surrounds.
My suggestion would be to isolate which speakers or channels (on Amp) are at fault.
Swap left and right to see if the problem transfers across.

No left channel sound

check wiring. if ok, swap speaker channels if ok, swap rca plugs, if ok. Bad channel on amp.

Low volume on left channel of Sony STR-GX4ES

The headphone is tapped before the final stage of the amp, so knowing that those work properly helps to isolate the problem. I think that this model uses an IC for the voltage amp section prior to the final amp stage. That being said, the IC is probably an UPC2598 (if memory serves). I'll confirm tonight. Try resoldering any connections that appear to be grainy or have rings. Let me know what you find.

Midiland ir-hf1 right speaker broken

Hi evtan

The only thing I can suggest you do is to swap the right and left inputs to the transmitter base over whilst wearing the headphones. If the fault transfers to the other channel, then you have a faulty interconnect lead that needs to be replaced. If it stays with the same channel, then the headphones or the base staion will be faulty. Best bet then is to return it to the place you purchased it from and request a replacement unit,. Thanks for using FixYa....a FixYa rating is a great reward from you to me for helping out :) Cheers
