First of all, find ALL the drivers for your laptop, make sure they are for Windows XP, all of them: Video, audio, touchpad, network, wireless, EVERYTHING, burn those on a CD.
Then get a copy of WinXP and go for it.

Hey,

You will need the setup cd of xp, and possibly SATA drivers for the xp setup to find the HDD (HardDrive) Of your laptop after the setup you may have some difficulty in finding the xp drivers, but I recall sony has good driver support. so the drivers should be available at http://www.vaio-link.com/submenu/downloads.asp?site=voe_en_gb_cons

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Ekse

Did you reformat the entire hard drive when you installed Vista? If you formatted the recovery partition you won't be able to go back without a Xp installation disc.

Are you having problems? If you are, I am not surprised. You will have driver issues.
Contact www.hp.com for drivers. If there are no drivers for XP then it won't work properly.

Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.

Adam,

The sony VAIO Pcv-j200 only runs with Windows 2000, windows Me and windows xp. The current operating system Vista on your computer right now will work but some of the features of it may not. The link below shows all the drivers for your unit for diffent operating systems (not vista). What you can try to do is to download the audio driver for windows xp

Vista

The tests will have told you which version of Vista Microsoft think your machine will run best, based on its specifications and performance; however, this may not be the best version for your NEEDS, just for your HARDWARE.

Unless you specifically need the extra options that Vista Business has, most people who use Vista are quite content with Home Premium. Check the various versions out on the Microsoft Site and decide which best serves your needs, bearing in mind you can easily go up to Business without your machine being stressed.
