Need to get into your control panel and then hardware devices and see if the hardware is enabled and not disabled first.

did it work before you installed the driver?

The yellow mark next to the Universal Bus indicates that there is some driver issue with one of the driver for your USB devices. You can try right clicking on the yellow exclamation mark, remove / uninstall the device and then click on Scan for hardware changes from Action menu. This may help in reinstalling the device.
Regarding your network card you can install in the available PCI slot regardless of the yellow exclamation mark next to universal bus.

Hope you find this solution helpful.

Network Connections are Gone!

I would check in device manager (control panel) and see if the network card is listed. It probably has a yellow exclamation point next to it.
If there is an exclamation point there, then right click the card and click uninstall.
Next, using your wifi to access the internet, download the latest network card driver from the PC vendor website / Motherboard vendor site / discrete network card site.
Install the network card driver and you should be back in business.

I have a Intel wireless Wifi link 5100 card but I think this card is not working any more. I want to check this point to see if I must send back my laptop to Sony

plug the card into your computer if its not internally installed...click START , controll panel, double click on system, select the hardware tab, then select device manager....scroll down to "network adapters" click on the plus next to it.
If there is a yellow ! or ? next to your wireless device the drivers are not present, corrupted, or installed incorrectly and need to be reinstalled for the wireless card to work properly.
If you find a problem there the driver is available here : http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/INTEL/Intel-WiFi-Link-5100-5350-Driver-12-2-0-11.shtml download it to your desktop, unxip it if neccessary and install. Please post again here if you need further assistance.

Setting up a computer as a wireless internet router

for windows xp you man set up the connection via cable or bluetooth and ms active sync - the htc (windows mobile) is able to use the hosts network connection.
you may also set up an ad-hoc wlan on you eee and turn on internet connection sharing for your mobile broadband connection. if you connect your eee to the ad-hoc wlan it should be able to access the internet

Prob to get wireless internet connection of lenevo 3000 N100

Hmmm 3000 N100 comes by default with the Intel wireless 3945abg. There is a problem with the XP driver that you can grab off their website I fear, that is probably why it worked in vista, but not in xp. Had a lot of users coming to me with this issue

Try replacing your driver with this driver:

http://www.driversdown.com/drivers/Lenovo-3000-N100-Notebook-Intel-wireless-3945abg-driver-10.5.1.59-Windows-XP_79954.shtml

That one should be the most up to date driver. Please get back to me if this resolved the issue or not. If not, then tell me if you see even the available wireless networks or not at all. Does the network card show up fine in the device manager or do you got any marks on it like a red cross or a question mark?

If the solution helped, please rate me. :)

I have a compaq presario c793vu notebook.i would like to set it up like my computer so i can take my laptop with me when i'm out but still be able to use my desktop also. i have'nt got broadband does'nt...

if you mean you want to set it up for wireless internet, then you need to check first if the wireless card is enabled/present.

Go to start. Right click my computer. Click properties>hardware>device manager.
If you see a yellow question mark, red x or an exclamation mark on any of the items in the list, tell me. Ideally, you should see 'network adapters'. Click the plus beside it. See if you see anything that says wireless under it. If there's a red x beside the wireless entry, right click it and click enable.

If you dont see any entry with yellow question mark, red x or an exclamation mark and dont see a wireless entry under network adapters, it means you dont have a wireless card installed. Or you may have one but it's not detected by your computer.

Tell me the result so we can check what to do next.

  1. is there a wireless network
  2. is the wireless network open or locked down and do you have the key
  3. in windows: have you run
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
have you looked up the network troubleshooter in the help screens
