1) Did you try to wash off the grease/dirt on the disc? Note: Use non-abrasive dishwashing liquid soap, and wash in an outward pattern (from the center of the disc to the end), and use only cold water.  Then lightly dry it off with a soft paper towel (as lint free as possible), preferably in the same outward pattern, but do not rub it vigorously.
2) Are you sure that it is not scratched to a point that it cannot play?  Scratches close to or greater than the thickness of a human hair will affect readability.
3) Did you try cleaning the laser unit with a cleaning kit, or with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and a cotton swab?
If none of the above will work, and if you are "electronically inclined", you can try to open up the unit and adjust the small potentiometers on the laser head unit itself.  Apart from the usual philips and flathead screwdrivers, you will need an DMM (digital multimeter), VOM (volt-ohm meter), or simple ohm meter.  There will be two, one marked "CD" and one marked "DVD".  I think that game is in DVD format so adjust the "DVD" one.  What you want to do is drop the resistance by MAX increments of 4 or 5 ohms.  What this does is increase the current running through the laser unit, essentially increasing its power.  But DO NOT turn it down too much otherwise the high current will burn out the unit.  If i remember correctly, the factory setting is around 960 ohms for the DVD potentiometer, but measure it and write it down BEFORE YOU BEGIN ANY ADJUSTING.  These potentiometers are really sensitive because they are small in physical size (for such an ohmic range), so a turn of even 1/16" will result in a change of about 50 ohms i think.
If all that fails, try the disc in someone else's unit.  If it works in theirs, you may have to swap out your laser unit completely.  It will cost roughly $25 max for the parts.
My 2 cents...
Good Luck

I can't play rock band for my ps3

There should've been a patch released for that, but you gotta go to to accessory settings and reassign your rockband peripherals to any slots 1-4, if its 5-7 they wont work.

How do u make ur rock band 1 and 2 disk read again on slim ps2

Your Laser is starting to go. Clean the discs, resurface them if they are really scratched, and try blowing some compressed air in and around the laser.

Don't blow the air directly on the laser lens though, it could cause more damage.

if those don't work, you can try boosting the power to the laser (voids your warranty) or get the laser replaced.

Rockband freezing ps2

the disk may be damaged , If it has the smallest scratch or smudge on the disk the ps2 will not play it. is it the slim or older ps2 ? if it continues to freeze I would return it as damaged. There should really no reason for it freezing unless it has a damaged disk or your PS2 needs cleaned or repaired. Hope this helps and I hope you get it up and going.

My ps2 slim wont load rock band bundle, why?

Maybe clean the disk with a silky cloth or tissue (and, optionally glasses cleaner). I know it says not to touch the laser but if you do it with the soft cloth it will be alright. I've done it for years for disks that break down.

My playstation2 will only play setain games it wont play Grandtrismo 4,or rock band. But it will play all my other games. It goes to the screen where it does not work. And it will say disk read error.

your problem is with the actual games. try checking the disk underside for scratches-fingerprints-dirt et,c.
wipe the disk with a soft cloth ( yellow duster types good ) wipe from inside edge outwards, if they are very dirty. use a mild solution of washing up liquid and luke warm water. wipe with the solution from inner to outer edge. then dry and buff ( polish ) with a soft dry cloth. if this does,nt work. try a laser cleaning disk in the Drive.
Hope this helps mike @ compurepair.

Rock band won't play on my playstation2 slimline

We had the same problem, we even went and bought a whole new Rock Band. My husband turned our PS2 slimline on the side and it started working. I don't know why or how, I just know it worked for us. Give it a try and I hope it works for you also.
