What you're talking about is what is called a "collision" when it comes to syncing devices. You use the options in the hotsync manager to decide how to handle collisions.
Open Palm Desktop.
Go to Hotsync->Custom
Pick the outlook calendar conduit
Select if you want to synchronize intelligently, have outlook overwrite the handheld, or have the handheld overwrite outlook.
Typically if the treo detects both records on outlook and on the treo, and you've set it to synchronize intelligently, it will make dupliate records and post a message at the end of the hotsync operation.

Backup the entire phone, it will create a directory on the computer, then you can delete the message file and restore your phone. You can also change the settings to not backup your messages if you use the Palm desktop, this is not an option using the Outlook conduit however as your messages sync to Outlook.
You need to go to your phone carrier support page, or to Palm.com and download the daylight savings time update. You SHOULD keep network time checked unless you don't want to pull the proper time from your carrier, such as when you are out of town.
I went to the MY COMPUTER folder, clicked open PROGRAM FILES, open PALMONE folder, open the username folder and deleted the back-up files. However, before I did this I deleted all of the problems dates in the PC calendar and set the hotsync to PC overrides handheld.
While this works, unfortunately I have found that I need to do it every once in a while which is very disappointing. It seems that Windows does not operate seamlessly with the Palm T5. I find that the hotsync crashes 50% of the time forcing me to reset my Palm T5. No information is lost, but it is really a pain in the *** to have to do so often. Versamail hotsync sometimes freezes on the handheld, but that is another issue which I have managed to fix much in the same way as describe above.
Try uninstalling with Windows Uninstall Clean-up tool.
XP seems to do a poor job of installing conduits sometimes. I think this might be an issue with the one conduit no being registered correctly in the Windows Registry.
You can get this tool here:
Uninstall Palm Desktop. Then shut down the PC. Then start it up again and re-install Palm Desktop.
I hope this helps.
u will not able to sync ur data into ur husbands profile for eg: as u know u would be having ur username on ur zire and ur husband will be having his so there is no way u would be able to merge both the data , what u can do is when ur syncin ur palm to outlook u can sync it with ur profile and when ur husband's sync 's his zire he can create a new profile and sync it , and if u plan of using the same username then , u would get an error sayin duplicate username is found ....
similar problem with my Palm Vx syncing with Outlook 2003
My recurring meetings lose attendees and other attributes like labels when I make a change to a specific date in the recurring series.
If I leave the original recurring event untouched the problem does not occur
Click on the hotsync icon in your system tray and then click "custom". That will bring up the list of things you are configured to sync with (conduits). For each of the ones you have problems with, click that conduit and then make sure it's set to sync the way you want...desktop overrides, handheld overrides, syncronize, etc. Potentially you have some of them selected as "do nothing". What shows up when I click custom from hotsync are the following Outlook Conduits: Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Memos. If you don't have those showing up, you need to update your Outlook conduits on your PC. If you have them, click to select the problem conduit, then click "change" and select what you want to have happen.
on the free time issue, here's a workaround that I tried and seems to work: go to the PalmOne Knowledge Library and search for Solution ID 4971. Appointments made on the Palm show up as busy in Outlook.
