Try a firmware upgrade. I'm trying to look that up right now so that you don't need to thumb through the garbage. everywhere i've read about malfunctions takes an upgrade but still crashes days or weeks later.
I would recomemend that you upgrade the firmware on the device..that usually solve the problems you are having..Should you need assistance with the firmware upgrade, feel free to contact me..

This may be caused due to damaged firmware but can be recovered by firmware upgrade. Click on the link given below to download the Firmware folder on your computer. When done, refer to file "procedure.doc", a Word file included in the Firmware folder, and follow the procedure to upgrade the Firmware of MP3 player.
