Nikon Coolpix s210 drivers

Hi I just purchased nikon coolpix s210 but drivers only for windows xp and vista. I have windows 2000 professional please provide me drivers for windows 2000 professional My Nikon Coolpix S210 has worked perfectly with Windows XP Professional... until today. Now my computer won't recognize the camera and won't allow me to update the driver. Nikon support says there must have been a Windows update that rendered the driver useless. He told me to buy a card reader.

There has to be some way to bypass, patch, fix, something. The camera worked fine for 3 months and all the sudden it won't work. That just doesn't make sense. If it were your camera, and it had worked fine, and someone told you now you have to buy a card reader and carry that around with you every day, would YOU do it? Or would you find a way to fix it?

Sir,

you should first upgrade the camera firmware (Coolpix 950 to v1.3 or higher; Coolpix 990to v1.1 or higher). Earlier versions of the firmware contain bugs which maycause hardware lockup and other problems. To check which firmware versionyou have, disconnect the serial (or USB) cable. Then turn the camera onwhile pressing the menu button (continue holding the menu button down untilthe display comes on).

thanks
good luck

Its not the driver problem.actually your pc needs to recognize the device for communicating with it.either the usb wire is faulty, replace the usb wire and try and second thing is your usb driver is faulty.so uninstall the usb drivers from device manager column and reload it.it must detect your device and will start working.
thanks.

HI HAVE you tried to remove the memory card from the camera and install it into your computer (if you have a reader of course)
Or just take out the Memory and plug the camera in without it see if windows will locate it
Then if that does not work go to the control panel in WINDOWS and system properties and scan for new hardware (with the camera plug in) GOOD LUCK

This problem dont have anything to do with the driver/software of the camera , because this can be a connection problem only since the computer wont recognize the camera anymore.. Because if you connect a camera to any computer even without the software for it the computer will still recognize it, so the best thing that you can do is to try a different USB cable because that can be the problem...

Hope that helps..........

If the support guy toldy to by a reader i'm sure it's because that was the only solution. more than like ly the driver is obsolete and no longer available. i'm sure that this is not what you wanted to hear but unfortunately when it comes to new electronics versus older computer. there is always 1 or 2 problems that can't be overcome the conventional way. in general terms windows is always updating security patchs or registry fixes and they don't always include alot of the drivers from prior hardware. card readers are not that expensive anymore and probably will save you money and frustration in the long run. hope this helps. please rate this solution and good luck.

You can download PictureProject software from this address: http://chsv-soft.nikon-image.com/jpn/software/win/S-P2____-175WU-JPNJP.exe

That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".

Here is a quote from Nikon site:

  • We had released a Windows Vista-compatible version of PictureProject, v1.7.5, for use with the models listed below, and all models that followed. PTP (models supporting the PTP protocol) and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. However, the camera's transfer button can not be used to transfer pictures over a PTP connection. Set the USB transfer option to Mass storage to enable the camera's transfer button.
Currently, the new Nikon Transfer and View NX will replace Picture Project as our new Image Transfer and Browser applications. These applications support the same Nikon products as Picture Project.
