Our original remote quit working - while we can get universal remotes to work the general functions of the TV - what we cannot do is connect to our DVD player or Playstation without the TV/AV function button. I am sure there is a simple way to do this but I cannot figure it out. I looked up getting a replacement remote like the original and they discontinued making the one we had and the replacement remote doesn't have the TV/AV button on it either. Please let me know if anyone has any advice.

Re: Remote and TV/AV Button
If you take the remote control apart, look for any signs of spillage ingress.very common, especially if you have kids.thoroghly wash the large area with the black tracks, the rubber keypad too,and dry all gently with a hairdrier for twenty mins or so.fixed.other common problems may inlude a broken lead on the yellow or blue resonator,or on the infra red transmitter diode,.its top centre of the board.failing this try grandata, based in wembley, middesex.they are online.hope any or some of this helps, regards, steve.

The tv universal remotes are having very limited options in functions and tv universal remotes are only work correctly are like buttons power on/off volume up/down and channels up/down.Menu button and a Video setting option modes functions setting are another story all together. These two functions Menu button and Video setting modes funtions will not work correctly in any tv universal remotes.Because these Menu and Video setting modes are belong into the internal setting of the tv itself. It will only work correctly with the tv original remote only.Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote to use.
As far as I can remember, the original JVC remote doesn't support a DVD player. It doesn't have the necessary buttons to control the player functions. You'll need to stick with the original Apex remote if you have it, or look for a universal remote that is compatible.
The codes in the owner manual don't work not any codes out here will help u.Return the universal remote.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an exact remote as original remote, might have some new JVC codes u could tries, but not likely it will work either.
You just buy one [CISCO-6400 ] Universal remote control to which your Orion TV is listed in its codes, and have all the buttons you need. Just go for it. It is a good one I thinks. Codes for Orion are:- 1023_1033_1107.
Keep trace with its manual to alaigh the remote to your TV.
The only way to change the source for the 28PW8608/05 is to use the remote. On the original remote, just below and to the left of the power button is the button you need. The image on it is a square with an arrow going into the square from one side. The inputs should go TV, EXT1, EXT2, (EXT3 on some models), Front). Depending on the set top box, you may need to enter the setup menu and set the digital source for the input (Press together Fast Rewind and Stop > Setup > Digital Source) or the decorder (next option in Setup).
If you do not have the original remote, you will need universal remote with an input or source button and to find the code that matches the function. Some codes may only operate the basic functions. (The lowest end universal remotes often lack this feature.) A universal remote that can be programmed via a USB connection with a computer will be the fastest to set up.
good day , what button can you see infront of your TV screen?
Not familiar with this model but if you'll manage to locate a button marked as "TV/AV" or "AV" press this button until it the display switch to A/V mode (audio/video). Or if this is a really old model, from Tuner mode or channel model. set the channel station to 1 then press the " - channel " button and see if it will change from tuner mode to A/V mode
Unless the TV has a front-panel menu button and allows you to switch modes from there, you are out of luck. There are two possibilities. One is to try another replacement remote. If you get a universal remote made by the TV manufacturer (Magnavox), it may have buttons that will work. The other option is to purchase an RF converter, which will cost around $15. This will take the video/audio signals from the game and convert it to a channel 3 or 4 signal you can then tune in on the TV. The picture won't be quite as bright and clear as with direct AV input, but it will do the trick.
The menu screen does not function the display. Without the original remote or a universal remote that does not have a display button, try unplugging the television for at least 2 minutes or more and plug the tv back in. This should reset the tv display. If the universal remote has a display button, depress the display button until you get the desired display results. Reference the user guide below for the display button.
