Question about Magic Chef CMV1000B Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Microwave oven provides no heat

Tray spins & light works but no heat. In a senior moment, I used the microwave oven timer from 6 to 12 minutes. And similar to my head, there was nothing in the microwave.

Before I have a pro look at it, how likely is it that the magnatron (magnetron?) will have to be replaced. 90%? Any chance it's just a door switch or something else less expensive than a magnatron?

Thanks for any info.

That's right, I ran microwave empty for 6 to 12 minutes. I hope that many microwaves would have similar reactions to this abuse as I don't know model number. What do you think might be the result even if my microwave might be different?

I asked my 8 year old son to put pizza bites in the oven and set microwave timer for 8 mins and that I'd be right downstairs. It's the first time I've asked him to handle something like this. He did great except he forgot the part about using the microwave TIMER and he simply ran it empty for 8 mins. Now the thing won't heat! It's model number 721.80019401. Is a failed magnatron a simple fix or do I need a new microwave?

Are you saying that instead of using the timer, you ran it empty for 6-12 minutes?

    What's your model number?

I would suspect that your (or any) microwave that is run empty and runs but does not heat probably has a failed magnetron.

With your model number (usually found on as together on the back, inside the cavity or around the door frame) we may be abel to point you to parts and repair sources.

HV fuse has failed. Possibly caused by door switches or Diode Pack failure. Do not attempt a repair unless you are competent to do so. Extremely hazardous voltages inside!

Goldstar GMV1540TB Microwave is not heating. Timer works but the tray is not rotating. If pushing the door up the oven can heat but easy to stop heating.

Will not heat

Is this a microwave you are talking about? If the clock and timer works, the light comes on and the tray revolves, but it doesn't cook food or heat stuff up, it is most likely the magnetron. Probably best to just buy another, as the cost of repairs not worth it.

Microwave works perfectly but does not heat

Sadly your microwave has done it's last cooking. The mechanism you need to make it cook again would cost you more than a replacement microwave.

OK, you have two components that are faulty. the magnetron and the turntable motor as well. replacing these two components will fix both issues.

My GE spacemaker microwave doesn't heat up foods. There is a slight bit of heat generated but not much. All timers, lights, etc. work normal. It is a GE model jvm1440. It is about 3 years old. The problem...

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS RANGING FROM DIODES TO CAPACITORS TO YOUR MAGNATRON OR THERMOSTAST OR TRANSFORMERS. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THIS MICROWAVE. YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF GETTING YOURSELF A DIFFERENT ONE.

Microwave won't heat anything

take the cover off the machine and look for a 13amp fuse that supplys the tranformers. BEWARE!!!
when you open the machine disconnect from the mains and do not touch the high power circuits the capacitors can hold a charge that can kill.
