Hi,

If all else fails, pls try:

  • Clean the memory slots with a clean brush. It may help to use electronic contact cleaner (pls spray cautiously);
  • clean the memory pins with a pencil eraser;
  • verify that all other plug in components are seated correctly;
  • leave the laptop without the memory and the battery for some time.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hello,

Here is a link from Crucial that guarantees compatibility with your system.

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20dv6000t%20Series

If the system doesn't boot, I suggest that you remove the new ram and temporarily reinstall the original memory. You will need to make sure that both retainer clips pop in place when you reinstall it You may also need to co into bios and reset system defaults to make sure that the memory is read correctly.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

Move both tabs away from the memory. carefully line it up in the slot and push down gently. if the memory is installed in the slots correctly both tabs will move up to hold the memory in place. reboot.... if that does not work install the memory in the other slot.

This can be a problem with the new memory, it may be not compatible with your MOBO or the memory is bad. So just remove the memory and try to reboot that should be working fine...

Hope that helps........

You might have another part that has gone bad. Check the RAM and see if it gives you any problems.

There is a program call mem test that you can burn to a CD and test your memory. But if your no longer able to get to the bios:
you def had a hardware problem.

I have installed (2) 1 gig sticks of memory into my HP Pavilion 513c. It will not boot. I get 6 beeps then 1 beep..

Sounds like a memory issue. Make sure the memory is securaly seated in the memory channels, make sure it is the right memory for the motherboard and that it is not faulty.
To test the memory remove one chip and try booting, if that does not work then put it back and try removing the other and try booting again. If it still does not work, make sure again it is properly pushed all the way down (You will hear and feel the tabs on the side securaly click into place, also the memory only fits one way, make sure they aren't backwards) and by what I mean wether it is the right type, DDR2 will not fit in a DDR3 socket as an example. Please feel free to tell me if this was helpful or not so I may add additional help if required. Thank you.

My hp pavillion 6630 beeps twice and then turns off

2 beeps (depending on the bios) is usually indicative of memory problems.
Try removing each module in turm, cleaning the gold contacts with a hard eraser and reseating it one at a time and reboot each time. The offending module can be identifed that way.

If both modules fail, then try a different module in each slot, if that does not cure the problem, please repost

Check all wires for loose connections--- if the memory was wrong or something, it would still attempt to boot but stop during the POST and start to beep

Why is the pc internal speaker beeping at me when i install the new ram - it won't boot. it is the right one.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. Make sure you have not added PC2100 RAM, and try adding a matched pair.

If you have the correct RAM type and spped, then try taking out all RAM modules and reseating them again, as it appears that one may not be slotted correctly. Be sure not to touch any of the Gold leads with your fingers, and of course make sure the power is off, the plug is removed, and then press the power button for 10 secs. to drain and charge in the board before proceeding.
