Warning "cannot access volume control"

Satellite L25 OS Windows XP Home edition duly updated with MS automatic updates.

On starting the computer the subject's warning appears, and the volume icon does not appear in the task bar.

The sound coming out of CDs and downloaded music from the web works all right.

The sound for Videos downloaded from sites like Youtube
does not work.

unfortunately that is not the problem. The extension for the videos are not what causes the non sound out of the videos downloaded fron any site Just the image is seen but no sound can not be heard. Then again, I have tried the MS sound devices troubleshooting and they report that all the system's components are working all right.

    Please help!!!

Are they raw files from youtube or have you converted them to avi's ?

Files downloaded from those sites usually end with .flv i believe it is.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I need a driver for my motherboard (ecs alhena5) especially vga driver. My OS is Windows XP sp3. tnx

Rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8
it might take some time being a freeware driver solution Note: it will find all of your outdated drivers
This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point.

Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.

Go to "Start", click it "Start Menu" will open. In the start menu click " Control Panel". The control Panel Window will open. Click "Windows update" Click "Turn on Updates". Windows will start to update automatically. Windows also allows you to modify setting according to your needs.

Good Luck!

I have an old ibm net vista with ms 2002 xp sp2,i have downloaded 2008 xp sp3. and would like to replace the old os with the new version. can this be done.

Hello nymandavid,

Yes it can be done. I would recommend you turn on automatic updates and let windows find the update for you, or run the windows update program from the start menu and install that way. The individual file of the SP3 update that is available on Microsoft's site is intended for large installs where more than one machine is being updated. Windows Update has a much smaller SP3 file that takes less time to install. I'm not sure what version of the SP3 update you have without more information on how you obtained it, but I would recommend not using it and following the examples I've given you.

Hope this helps, and remember to leave feedback if you found this to be helpful. Thank you.

Windows XP home edition service pack 3

OK, do you wish to install further updates? if you dont, then what you can do is disable automatic updates

To do this, then right click on the desktop the icon My pc and select properties. The sub menu Automatic Updates you will find on the top, click that and check the box disable automatic updates

Some Automatic updates are dangerous and can cause your computer to stop working correctly. I would recommend you disable them. Once this is disabled, restart your computer and the access denied messages will disappear. This is because its most likely you have automatic updates set to download and install automatically. But once you disable this, problem should be solved.

If you have any more questions, please let me know

Installing the downloads in xp home edition

The only thing that comes to mind is you have some antiviirus/firewall software that will not allow it to load.
Depending on what type is is it can be blocking it without telling you or allowing you to pass the program.
This is a common issue with this type of software.
you can disable it but how depends on what it is.
if you can disable it then run the update manually.
start/windows update
