Question about Uniden BC244CLT Base Scanner

1 Answer

Won't receive/scan My Uniden bc244clt just stopped working all of a sudden. I thought it was turned down, but it wasn't. Have tried changing location, checked antenna and still nothing. I can't find my owner's manual. Any suggestions?

Actually, stopped working isn't accurate. It still appears to be scanning and all channels are going through the screen, but I'm not receiving anything, or can't hear it.

If the correct frequencies are displayed when in manual mode, the problem lies within the frequency synthesizer circuit. It may be possible to repair economically if you can locate someone experienced with this equipment (I repair these but am not permitted to commercialize here, but you can email me at commcomm.1@juno.com for more information).

Uniden bcd396xt scanning but no sound coming from scanner

BCD386XT No sound. If it is actually stopping on an active broadcast and if you have the volume turned up (press down on volume button and release, then rotate to adjust) then the most likely cause is a failed speaker. Try a set of headphones in the jack on top by the antenna, if you have sound there it is most certainly a bad speaker. It is a very tiny speaker that is as thin as a nickel, many have been broken by a simple jar or by being played too loud by the hearing impaired. It is not hard to change but basic soldering skills are required. the speaker is available from uniden parts.

Thinking of buying Uniden Bearcat BC244CLT will it work in oklahoma

It will work just about anywhere in the world, including Oklahoma. The BC244CLT is a conventional scanner though, and it will not work with trunked or digital systems. To find out what frequencies and systems are currently in use in your area, visit:

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Press the SCAN button again, adjust the SQUELCH to where it is silent. Press the SCAN button again. Check to make sure you don't have all channels LOCKOUT. Thanks for choosing FixYa.....John

BC244CLT Base Scanner: scanner stopped picking up all freq...

If your Scanner has a button labeled ATT or Attenuation try pressing the button, Attentuation is used to block out extremely strong signals and would be used when you are really close to a Transmitter that is transmitting on a frequency close to yours so you can pick up more distant Transmitters.

Uniden Bearcat BC 147XLT Was not broadcasting much so I unplugged it to reset it and then reprogrammed the codes and it is still not talking. What can I do?

Many factors can be considered when attempting to receive signals.
1. The area you are scanning: Is it a big metropolitan city? Are you trying to receive Law Enforcement or Fire frequencies? Many of the bigger cities have now adopted APCO25 Digital Trunking and this particular model will not receive these signals.

2. Should you be in a Rural area there may not be much going on anyway. It may also help to have a bigger antenna located outside as high as you can mount it.

3. Try scanning the Amateur Radio bands 144-148, or 440-450. There is bound to be some activity there.

4. Try obtaining a frequency guide or search the net for frequencies in your area. Try the site link below and click the Reference database button.
www.radioreference.com

You may want to be patient when scanning as waiting proves to be a futile effort, I like to listen to the scanner secondary to what I am doing. Waiting for something to happen will drive you nuts! LOL :o)
Hope this tip prove helpful.

Uniden scanner will not scan

Mine did the same thing. I installed ARC-XT-PRO software from BuTel, deleted all factory programming from the scanner, then downloaded/programmed everything I wanted from RadioReference.com. The BCD396XT and BCD996XT are fantastic scanners, but you have to beat them into submission before they will do what you want them to.
