Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just installed a new Teac DVDROM DV516E/S in my computer. When I turn on the computer, the DVDROM makes a churning sound (also when I push the eject button after the computer is on), but the door to the unit does not open (just the churning sound). Thank you, Donna

Hi Donna, the tray is moved in and out by cogs on a track. Can you see a little pin hole in the front of the unit. open out a paper clip and push it in, You should feel some Resistance! push a little harder and the CD drawer should open out a bit, then carefully pull it out the whole way. use the eject button to close it and open it. if this doesn't work, bring it back to the shop

Teac 6010 reel to reel makes static when not playing.

These units are old enough to need new electrolytic capacitors installed in them. I have seen wind like sounds and frying eggs type sound that are all resolved by a new set of caps. These things are from the Vietnam war era and when I was at Teac in the 80's they were considered old then.

DVDs start and stop randomly

Definitely sounds as if your DVD is going bad. You can purchase a new internal DVD player for your laptop from most computer stores for between $30 - $60.00 depending on the brand and the read/write speed. Installation is simple and directions should be able to be found in your user manual.

My van is making a sweaking noise in the area of the belts and pulleys. i have replaced the tensioner assembly, belt, idler pulley, alternator and battery. whats the problem?

take a long pole as from a push broom and use the pole as a stethascope. place the pole to the power steering pump at a safe aera and place your ear to the other end of this pole.you will hear the churning of the bearing as the engine is running. do this to every part that runs off the belt. you will notice a big difference when you listen to all bearings. if all sound good as a normal churning noise you have a glaze of dried oil on your pulleys making the belt to sqeak

HPdv6500 Makes A Churning Sound On Startup

When a system is turned on from being off, its fan spins extra fast to give help with the startup because the system is working its hardest. With this in mind it could be just a case of something being stuck in the fan or the fan itself being faulty. You can open up the laptop (if your not sure on how to do this follow a maintenance guide which you can download of the internet) and check the fan.
Hope this helps

Noise

Freon "boils" when compressed and pushed through the evap. causing cold. Sometimes after time you can hear it making the boil sound. There is really no way to fix it. Well... There is a way to fix but the price you would pay to fix it; you could turn around and buy a brand new freezer! GOODLUCK:)
