Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just installed a new Teac DVDROM DV516E/S in my computer. When I turn on the computer, the DVDROM makes a churning sound (also when I push the eject button after the computer is on), but the door to the unit does not open (just the churning sound). Thank you, Donna

Hi Donna, the tray is moved in and out by cogs on a track. Can you see a little pin hole in the front of the unit. open out a paper clip and push it in, You should feel some Resistance! push a little harder and the CD drawer should open out a bit, then carefully pull it out the whole way. use the eject button to close it and open it. if this doesn't work, bring it back to the shop

How to do clean install of Windows 8.1 when normal clean install does not work. Putting disk in and doing usual F8 command does not work. The computer is in a loop I can't get out of.

Make sure you are putting the disc in a DVDRom and check the bios to make sure the system is set to boot from the DVD. You can also hit the F10 key during start up which on most computers brings up a boot menu. Make sure you select the drive that has the Windows DVD disc.

Dvd door doesn't open

if there is a small hole on the panel of your dvd drive push a straightened paper clip inside until you feel it press down this will open up the drive

if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark? ! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or

select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

hope this helps

Need to update driver for TEAC keyboard tk 8060

You can do the following: try a generic USB keyboard if it works then try your keyboard in another computer running windows 7, so that you will know your keyboard is fine. If so then your windows 7 installation has suffered somehow..
P.S. Sometimes a virus can cause a keyboard or mouse to malfuntion.

Trying to reinstall win xp but when i get to installing windows, the computer freezes

Hi juicy2024,

2 reasons why your PC got stuck during Windows installation are your installation CD and DVDROM/CDROM.
Please make sure that your Optical Drive is working properly and your installation CD has no scratches.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

THe DVD/CD writer all of a sudden does not write to a dvd, although a few months ago it did just fine. I have a teac dvd+rw dv-w58e in a Dell 4600. I have unistalled and reinstalled it. I have restored...

Not to over simplify your problem, but have you cleaned the optical eye of the drive lately? Sometimes we overlook the simple things.

The laser optical eye is located at the bottom of the drive. This equals a good(?) area for the eye to become covered with dust.

Some use a drive cleaner that resembles a CD disk with a brush on it, and a cleaning solution.

I use a can of compressed air for computers, and shoot air towards the bottom of the drive.
(Drive tray open, computer off, AND unplugged from power)

Installed and uninstalled it? Through Device Manager? This never works for me.

Neither does roll back the driver.

I use a different software method, and then a physical one if that does not work. Past this point the drive is unusable, and has seen the end of it's Life Cycle.

(Computer mechanical hardware components have a Life Cycle. So many hours of usage)

Software Method:
1) Start>Right-click on My Computer>Left-click on Properties>
Left-click on Hardware tab>Device Manager

2) Left-click on the + sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives

3) Right-click on the drive name in question.
(Teac w58e)

4) Left-click on Properties in the drop down menu

5) Left-click on the Driver tab

6) Left-click on Uninstall

There will be a warning window.
'Warning you are about to uninstall this device...and so on'
Click on OK.

7) Close the Device Manager window. Close the System Properties window.

8) Shut the computer down normally. (Start>Turn Off Computer>Shut Down)

Wait 1 minute. Turn the computer back on. After Windows has fully loaded, you should see out of your task bar,
'Found New Hardware',
and perhaps, 'Found Teac w58e'

See if the optical drive works now.
No?

Shut the computer down normally. Unplug from power. Open the computer case.
TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case, to relieve your body of Static electricity.

Unplug the power cable, and the interface cable from the drive. (Data cable)

Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of Five seconds. Let go of the button.
Do this procedure two more times.

Now plug the power cable, and the interface cable back into the Teac optical drive.
Close the computer case. Plug the computer back into power.
WAIT 1 minute.

Turn the computer on.

If this doesn't do it, I suggest the Teac optical drive is toast.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, but no reboot disk. It tells me that Windows Resume Loader failed but will not let me use the arrow keys, how can I reboot with out a cd

You must enter the BIOS this is done by hitting F2 DEL or F1 It all depends on your make and model.
sometimes the Bios will tell you which key to hit and when to hit
once there goto the section labled Boot Sequence and make sure that your first boot priority is cdrom/dvdrom.make sure that this is done.
save work exiting bios.
make sure that you have some type of floppy or cdrom or dvdrom in slot.computer will then boot from there. look for fdisk AND MAKE SURE THAT ALL pARTIONS ARE MARKED ACTIVE.

Cd tray on Computer keeps ejecting while not in use

Hi Deborah. We can try a few steps to resolve this problem.Open the cabinet/Tower and reseat the drive cables.Check in the BIOS(F2 or Delete key on the keyboard on system restart to get to BIOS) and see whether the drive ejects. If it doest do it here, then it could be a windows issue.Even viruses can cause this problem. If it does in BIOS as well, then we need to do more.... Check in device manager for the driver model (Control panel>>System>>Device manager>>CD/DVDROM drives). Click on the +sign beside the CD/DVDROM drives option and check the complete name of the drive. Google for %Drive model% Firmware and install the firmware. That is the only possible solution.Samsung drives do have this known issue

Trying to install dvdrom on my dell dimensin 4500

Let's see, here are a list of things to do.

1. If replacing an existing drive, open the chassis, remove old drive and transfer mounting rails to new drive. (Make sure the drive jumper is set to CABLE SELECT)
2. Mount new drive in chassis, connect the IDE and power cables.
3. Boot to the BIOS (F2 at boot) turn on caps lock, scroll lock and Numlock, the press CNTL+E, CNTL+F then CNTL+B to reboot, this will force IDE redetection and should ID the drive in BIOS
4. Boot to windows, see if the drive is now ID'd in device manager.
5. Install DVD playback and burning SW that came with the drive.
