Hi, I'm not sure this will correct the problem but check to see if your dryer is properly grounded. It should be grounded to the cold water pipe.
It does sound like the thermostat would be the problem. I'm not sure why it is failing. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I have a LG Tromm dle0442w doesn't heat blow out cold air

It is caused by three possible candidates:

(1) The thermal fuse
(2) Heating element
(3) High limit thermostat.

Have these devices checked out and replace the faulty part.

Most Dryers has a thermal switch that when the air flow gets so hot it will shut down the dryer until it cools down or on some models the thermal switch has to be replaced .. The most common problem to cause this is a restricted air flow somewhere in the exhaust of the heated air causing the dryer to reach too high of temp, which could cause a fire .. Hope this information is help full......

Need to remove front panel of dle0442w to get to heat limit switch

unplug the dryer, remove the top panel, remove the control panel, usually a couple of screws on the top right and left side, when you get the control panel off there are like 4 screws on the top front panel then open the door and remove 2 more screws, disconnect door switch.go here this will help you out i'm trying to go by memory and it's harder to remember how to do it,when i'm in front of it i can pull it apart no problem but this should help you out.

LG DLG2251W won't heat up

Your post is from 2008 but I am having the same problems with this dryer, same model. This is an LG problem, for crying out loud LG ---- GET IT FIXED. No more LG dryers for me. My $300 Kenmore works like a charm.

The first LG dryer they sent me I thought was a lemon. They came out and replaced the motherboard on the brand new dryer. They came out again and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't dry my clothes, and the second time they gave me another brand new dryer. Same problem with this one and all brand new perfectly clear ducts. Really?????

Google "lg dryer spins but no heat" on youtube - he explains how to get to the sensor and reset it, but still trying to figure out where to find it on my model. I can't believe I have to go through all of this with a $1000 machine!! Never ever again. Avoid LG dryers at all costs. It takes me HOURS to dry a load of laundry. Wanna throw a dry piece of clothing in the dryer for a few minutes to get the wrinkles out? hahaha think again. The heat will never come on even with the manual (non sensor) setting.

Again = AVOID LG DRYERS AT ALL COSTS. It's not worth the headache.

LG Dryer won't dry, no heat.

The heating coil is not too big of a problem to replace if you are mechanically inclined and have tools to do the job.
If you plan to try to repair the problem yourself, then the first thing you want to do is unplug the dryer from the electric.
Remove the back of the machine and try to locate the air tube going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside the air tube you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistor.
Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape.
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST. This could cause a fire, as you have removed the saftey of overheat from the machine.
Good Luck,
Hope this helps
