Hello ezra

did anybody setup the connection for u?

if so then you will need to contact the person in charge

if the Dlink is brand new and you get connected by urself

take a look at the back of the router you will see 10 digit code (hexa)

this is a security key you will need to enter before getting connected..

check that and let us know what happened with u

cheers

I just bought a dlink router for wireless network, but when i went to install a dvd to my computer, but drive does not work so what can i do now? Please replay me and give me your contact number please.

You do not have to use the cd.
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Joe

Can't get my wireless laptop to work. How do I connect the router to the computer?

First what type of router do you have? What is the model number?
Second ensure that your wireless switch (if your laptop has one) is set to on.
Go into view network connections and ensure your wireless card is enabled.
From you Desktop ensure that you are connected as described in the previous post.
Depending on your router make and model type in the ip address to the router.
Default for linksys is usually 192.168.1.1
DLink is usually192.168.0.1

From here it depends on your specific router.
There should be a wireless setup wizard.

Limited or no connectivity to the internet. my setup: the telephone port is approx 30m from where i need internet access. Originally I had a dlink wireless router set up but was connected via cable, now...

On which port of the D-link router did you plug the WRT160N router?

Do this setup.

Disconnect the WRT160N from D-link.

Connect a computer to port 1 of the WRT160N. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. you may need to type in the username and password for WRT160N. on the setup page Change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. save the settings.

Connect a cable from port 1,2,3 or 4 of the D-link router to the Internet port of the WRT160N. turn off everything then turn them on starting from cable modem>D-link >WRT160N then computer.

You should be able to access the internet.

Keep getting disconnected from the internet from the wireless router

It can sometimes be tricky solving wireless connectivity, but here's a few things you should try:

Reboot the router. I know, everyone says that, but it does help most of the time.

Update the driver on your wireless card. A lot of times, manufacturers find fault in theri devices and update the drivers to compensate and fix those problems.

Along with this, also try looking for new software/firmware updates for your router. it soudns scary at first, but normally there is an easy way to this built into the router software. simply go the manufacturer's web site and download the latest and greatest for your model. then follow the directions that usually are packaged with the driver file in a text file of some kind.

If that doesn't work, take a real good look at the properties on your wireless connection under "my netwrok places" and make sure evry setting matches exactly with those of the router, sometimes, a difference in these settings can cause instability in your connection too.

Finally, it could be that your wireless card and the router are just not compatible. some manufacturers build in different tollerence levels inside their products in order to give their own companion hardware a slight edge in compatibility. call it marketing: I call it mean-spirited, but the fact remains that it is done by some manufacturers and it means that you may find that your wireless card will never work with that router and may find yourself having to replce one or the other. dlink and some built in cards have this failing in common.

Hope that helps.

Does it say limited connection to network? You're connecting it through a wireless router right? Do you see your wireless router when you search for networks?
I had similar problem with my previous Dell laptop. Wireless use to work untill one day it just stopped, found the networks, but kept giving me limited connection whenever i tried to connect. I found out the problem is linked with the driver. Dell laptop i had was also on XP OS.
Maybe try reinstalling the drivers. After I formatted my computer and reinstalled drivers, it started working again.
Hope this helps.
