Set is approx. 2 years old, worked fine, no trouble. Turned on set,
green power light came on briefly, then a red LED flashing one long
and two short flashes. No picture, no sound. I've read the horror stories
on line. Anyone know for certain, what the problem is & can it be fixed w/out costing me an arm & leg? Help!

I also have a Philips 37" LCD HDTV that shows an error message, one long and two short red LED blinks. My model is also a 37PF9431D/37, is 2 1/2 years old, is out of warranty, and is not working whatsoever. Seems to be a recurring problem with Philips televisions, which is disappointing, especially when their licensed repair center gave me a price of $300 to simple look at the machine provided I brought it to them (otherwise another $125).

On ebay locate the store for user techfetch .

At time of writing this response it is
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Dallas-Electronics-Liquidator

Look for item containging 310432847531 or 310432838621 - those are the power boards models used in your TV.

They offer trade-in service for $99 and it works. We tried it and are very happy with the result.

If you can, check the diodes on the solder side of the power supply.

Try first unplugging it for half an hour, see if it restarts.

The LED normally blinks--indicates the digital/main board is powered up.

Look for other fuses----Boards for these are rather expensive, maybe too expensive.

Google the model number with the word boards or parts after it to research it.

finally got some help from customer service ----
the code flashing one then two red lights is for an upgrade of the software ---- you can go to their website and download a current fix to that problem onto a thumb drive----
\the power problem is caused by a bad power board--- you can replace them for any where from 130-330.00
dont need a service tech - take off cover and easy to replace---can find part on parts store.com for philips televisions --- used is about 130 and new about 330 -- used is a refurbished unit and works just as good as the new one

While I can't tell you what this particular code means I know from experience that power boards fail frequently commonly on those TVs. Do you hear a clicking of the power supply first on and then off after a few seconds?

There's a guy or a company on eBay that offers trade-in for faulty power supplys, you should check them out:
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/TechFetch

Search for 37'' Philips in the title or contact them to ask about it. Used to be $99 flat including return shipping.

I had the same thing - one long red flash followed by four short red flashes. Plugging and unplugging the power cord had no affect until I also unplugged all the cabled connections to the VCR and DVD player as well. Also, per the manufacturer's instructions, I unplugged the power cord from the surge protector and plugged it into the main wall outlet (which I tried first, but did not finally have success until I cycled the power cord unplugging process with all the cabled connections to the auxilliary devices unplugged as well).
