  • There are two place this could be.
  1. The first place will be a little cord barely dangling from the distributor. There will be nothing else plugged into it. It only has to connector points in it. Take a paper clip and jump one side to the other and put the ignition to the on position.
  2. Some Supras have a box that you test from. You will look for the fuse box under the hood and right next to it is another box that says "diagnostic" on it. Find T or TE1 and jump with a paperclip to E1. The underside of the lid to that box will show you which pin is which. Turn your ignition to the on position.
  3. When the check engine light comes on should it blink nice and steady there are no codes. Other wise it will blink codes in set of 2 digits.
  4. 1983 Supras were the first ones to have a check engine light on the vehicle. So if this is a real early 1983 Supra it may not have a CEL option on it.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

How do i reset or find code for check engine light where is the the computer connection inside car

ODBC-2 code reader is used to read the codes and reset the codes once read. This web site will help you troubleshoot the codes http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes . The reader can be purchased for usually less than paying a auto mechanic to read the codes and perform the reset. The plug to read the codes is usually under the driver side dash. If you lay down on the ground you will see it. ODBC-2 reader are sold at every auto parts store and are easy to use.

Cant find computer on my 2000 galant 2.4l motor

Hi there,

On earlier models, the ECM (also known as PCM & ECU) was located above the passenger side 'kick panel', hidden behind the glovebox.

However, on later models, Mitsubishi mounted the computer in behind the Centre Console (below and behind the ashtray area). You'll need to remove both centre console side panels.

The one you want, has a part number starting with: MR *****

Note: NEVER replace the PCM, unless your diagnostic codes codes confirm the PCM is faulty. Have your diagnostic codes read before disconnecting.

Cheers,

My check engine light came on. Had just filled with gas. Now I smell gas under hood.

Don't try to start the car with a gas leaking, pop the hood and locate the leak, you need to get the codes from the computer, be carefull, you don't want to burn your car to the ground.

How do you read the trouble codes on a 91 honda

Older cars used the OBD 1 system for retrieving codes, check your owners man, for the location of the diagnostic connector under the hood, use a compatible scanner, most newer scanner's have the cable needed for making the connection. Good luck!

Timing Dpecs for Toyota Supra 87 6 cylinder

1987 non-turbo: 10 deg Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) @700 rpm
1987 Turbo: 10 deg BTDC @650 rpm.

To set the timing, you will need to connect a jumper wire between terminals E1 and TE1 on the diagnostic terminal. This diagnostic terminal is located just aft of the engine compartment fuse box. It is a black plastic box marked "diagnostic" on the cover, which flips open to reveal the terminals inside. There is a diagram on the inside of the cover which explains the terminal positions. On the Turbo model, you need to remove the forward section of the engine cover to gain access to the number one spark plug wire.

I have a 1988 jeep cherokee, if your are standing in front of the vehicle, on the left fhand side, there is a relay center. well right beside that realy center is two little white plastic boxes with yellow...

Diagnostic Connector To read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's), the test connector for the electronic engine control system must be used. The test connector is more commonly referred to as the Data Link Connector (DLC). On all Jeep models through 1990, the DLC is a 6-pin and a 15-pin connector located under the hood on the right side of the engine compartment. On 1991–93 models, the DLC is located under the hood on the left side of the engine compartment near the powertrain control module. On 1994–98 vehicles, the DLC is located in the passenger compartment, under the driver side dashboard.
