Our 20 mth old Photosmart C5180 All-in-One suddenly declared it was out of Yellow Ink but that I could still print in black ink by pushing the OK button. Then it said I couldn't print at all because my yellow ink cartridge was out of ink. I replaced the yellow cartridge. It STILL said it was out of ink and would not print. It sits here on my desk as dead as dead can be! I called India, paid $24 and received "help" for 30 minutes, and it still didn't work.
Can you offer a cure for my problem?
-   I have the exact same problem. And the more times I took out the new yellow cartridge and put it back in and then checked the ink levels the more the levels shown on the other ink cartridges would decrease. Yellow would still show empty. When researching this problem I did come across a law firm that is investigating HP print cartridges falsely indicating needing replacement no matter how much ink was in the cartridge. It was on a different model but it could be the same software or part error.

-   same issue on my C5150. You can do a NVRAM reset by unplugging the power, reconnect power, hold down OK & Help buttons, wait until unit powers off, power on & should be able to print, BUT & a very big BUT, it will only print about 2-3 sheets in color & then display no yellow ink plus it loses any settings that are configured including network settings. Help is greatly appreciated.

i purchase my c5180 from my Friend, yes had the same problem before, tried to buy a replacement ink and yes it didn't work the way it should be, so i tried to refill the old original ink by using 2 pcs. basketball pin and 1 syringe..one pin i've attached to the tip of the syringe replacing the needle,.. the ink cartridge has 2 holes put onee pin into hole no.1,doesn't matter what hole it would be, and then put the right ink color unto the syringe ex. yellow, and then insert it to the hole and gently inject the ink until it comes out on th other pin...it works...but still you will have a question mark on your ink level...

Same damn problem. Already spent $30 on these useless print three pages and they're out of ink cartridges (the yellow ones) trying to get this thing back on-line. Nothing on HP support about it. Tried unplugging it, resetting tools, nothing works.

This same thing is happen with my printer as well...only with the yellow ink.

This EXACT same thing is happening with my printer. Same color too...yellow! Please help me fix this as of right now I can't printer anything in color. :(
