Are you sure you have to access memory via the keyboard. Most dells have a compartment on the underneath

The following link on the Dell site shows you how to install additional memory. I'm sure it will show how to unclip the keyboard.

SOURCE: installing ram

You need to go into the bio and update the memory there and the Yellow ! will go away. Boot the PC, select the F8 key during post, go into the setting for Memory and accept the change and you should be good to go. Let me know //D

Where dom i insert new memmory in a dell latitude d820 computer?

    1. Remove the keyboard bezel with a flathead screwdriver.
    2. Remove three screws securing the keyboard
    3. Unplug the keyboard cable from the motherboard and remove the keyboard. The internal RAM (memory) slot is located under the keyboard, right above the touch pad buttons.

Dell D 600 Cursor locked can not do anything - even after power is turned off and on

Try booting up after installing an external USB mouse. This may give you a mouse to install new keyboard drivers. If the problem is the keyboard/tracking pad, (hardware) installing another keyboard may eliminate the issue.

The memory appears to be the right kind.

Try installing just one 1GB module, and run the diagnostics (press F12 at boot time and select diagnostics).

    Good luck!

I have one of these myself, love it. The other memory chip is under the keyboard. Remove the plastic strip that has the power button on it, and you'll see the four screws holding the keyboard. Once you get the keyboard off you'll see the other memory chip.

    Installing Memory

    Hi

Yes, you can replace/upgrate the memory module under the keyboard.

Before you proceed, note that Dell Inspiron 2650 uses DDR200 3.3V SODIMM modules. Also, memory module capacities supported are 128MB and 256MB with a Maximum memory of 512MB. If the current memory installed is 128MB, you need to order 2x 256MB modules to replace/upgrade both memory slots. If the installed capacity is 256MB, you just need another 256MB for the slot underneath the laptop.

Check "Removing the Keyboard" for guide removing the keyboard to access the 2nd memory slot.

Read "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer" before committing to the above procedure.

Let me know how you get on.

    Mike
