You didnt mention which side hot or cold?
it sounds like its scaled up & the o ring has dried out so it could be a case of replacing o ring & regreasing. ifits when you turn either hot or cold & its stiff then a replacement cartridge will required

Kindly

Need to replace American Standard A951470-0070A - Cartridge for American Standard # 4242 Chrome Single Control. I need to replace the cartridge but after removing the set screw I can't budge the handle. How do I descale the stuck handle without ruining the finish—I am afraid WD-40 will harm the chrome.

Oliveri mixer taps

turn off the hot and cold water supply, place a container under the sink where the hose meets the Sink mixer.
release the pressure from the tap by opening the tap to let the water out.
use a suitable tool to undo the flexible hose from the underside of the tap, there should be a small "O" ring on it which you will have to replace as the "O" ring is possibly the cause of the leak.

I have a mixer tap in the kitchen sink. The hot water tap runs fine but I am not getting any cold water. I also have a bath downstairs and the cold water tap there is fine

You will have to turn off your water mains and strip your mixer tap. It is possible that the seal (if it is an older tap with a rubber seal) has become stuck or the threaded part that turns it has gone faulty. If it is a modern tap with ceramic seals, check the operation of the mechanism and see why the ceramic seal is not being opened.

Water pressure has dropped off with pressurised water system

hi Peter if you have a mixer tap there are no washers there is a ceramic cartridge in the centre but that should't be the fault
the most common rectification is to undo the airrator which is the filter that the water comes out of and clean any forein matter from it

Mixer has come off of stand

It will go back in if you back off the screw that was supposed to lock it in place. Look at the mixer part of the unit and make sure that the pin slides thru the hole. If not then turn the screw ccw a turn of so. Now make sure the pin slides easily thru the two holes in the stand part of the mixer.

Now carefully line up the top and bottom halves - look thru the hole in the stand until you can see the mixer's hole line up, then slide/tap the pin into the hole

Now turn the mixer on its side and look for the screw in the mixer casting. Turn it clockwise until tight and the pin will not come out again . . . . for a longer time hopefully . ..

HAVE A RAMON SOLER SINGLE MIXER TAP THAT HAS STARTED DRIPPING HOW DO I REPLACE WASHER ON THIS TAP OR STOP IT DRIPPING

there should not be a washer as it is a ceramic insert assembly
the dripping is from wear of the plates caused by minute dirt particles in the water
the fix is a replacement insert
see a plumber shop for the correct insert

We have two 16 year old shower faucets (house was built in 1993 by Del Webb). Can't tell what model they are. We are guessing they are Moen Legend 3175 (one handle). Problem seems to be pressure balancing...

This is a common problem with this type of shower mixer valve. They are not very good at regulating with pressure change. Your options are somewhat limited to not flushing the toilet or using any other taps when in use, repalce the mixer valve for a modern ceramic unit or installing a 2 vane hot & cold shower pump.
