Check your ide cable and possibly replace it. also make sure the connection on the hard drive itself is ok.

Why do i boot disk failer

You need to purchase a version of Windows which comes on a CD. Insert the CD in your DVD drive and reboot, and the system setup process will start.
If you had a version of Windows on your old hard drive, get the Key Number off a sticker on your computer and contact Microsoft Customer help; for a small amount of $ they may send you another disk.

When I try to start in safe mode my computer begins to start up, and then it stops with a list of this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ (this part changes) mup.sys or...

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
you could run the check disk utility

click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive

hope this helps

When i tried to reboot my laptop it wouldnt turn on, it came to a screen that said 0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0. Whats that mean?

This message means that system can not recognize your (bootable) disk with the operating system. Ususally this is because of a hard disk failure or motherboard failure. Try to shut down, unplug form the power cable and restart after some minutes. If this work take back up of your valuable files from your hard disk and get the pc to a technician in order to change the hard disk and clone (in case it's possible) the old disk to a new one.

I hit F8, here is the new error message

If this is all you are seeing, then this is not an error. What is happening here is that your computer is loading Safe Mode. This is a way to load Windows operating system without any extra software or programs, using the most basic drivers and software to load. There are a lot of benefits to accessing this mode, especially if you installed a program that stops you from getting into Normal Mode, or you have a virus that does the same. It makes it easy to troubleshoot. Here is a link to a website with a little more info:

If you load your computer normally by not pressing any keys, then you should be fine.

Long periods of hard drive activity

Most likely, it could be the amount of ram you have in your computer. If your running low on ram and it is using the virtual memory your computer can be running all the time causing a slow down in whatever you do. Check to see how much ram you have :)

Msg saying error 0200: failure fixed disk 1

Your error is a sad one. If you are lucky you may be able to recover you laptop with a "FIXMBR" command. But you need your System CD to do this. At worst, your hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. You will need your System CD to format and reinstall everything on the new hard drive.
Number Three - There are drive enclosures that connect to the USB port but in most cases you will need to format the drive so it can be read or written to. Only if you are very lucky might you be able to access the dead drive and recover the data.

My emachine computer T1105 just stop working when i insert the restore CD it say "ERROR 0200: FAILURE FIX DISK 0

1. Make certain the caqble connecting the CD drive and the motherboard is secure.

power down the computer
remove the power cord
open the case
GROUND YOURSELF ON BARE METAL
trace the wide ribbon cable connecting the CD drive to the motherboard and make certain it is firmly seated at both ends
(while you have the case open and yourself grounded, grab your can of compressed air and blow out some dust bunnies, OK? :-))
close the case, plug in, power on.

If that wasn't the issue,

2. Clean the restore CD by using a soft cloth and wiping from the inside (at the hole) stright to the outside edge. DO NOT wipe in a circular motion!

3. Purchase a CD/DVD drive cleaning kit from WallyWorld or some other discount house and attempt to use it to clean the drive. DO NOT use compressed air to clean the drive!

4. Report back. :-)

Error on windows load

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
This is what the boot.ini file should look like. Use U'r recovery disk to create or edit the ini file as above. U cannot use DOS 6.22 to create this file if U'r system is formated in NTFS.
If U don't have a recovery disk, make one from someone else's XP computer (DOS 7.xx).

When you turn the computer on it says SMART Failer predicted on hard disk 0: HTS54108G9SA00-(S1)

S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a diagnostic method originally developed by IBM that at that time referred to as "Predictive Failure Analysis". This technology was developed for IBM mainframe drives to give advanced warning of drive failures. Based on this diagnostic, Compaq announced IntelliSafeTM, which was submitted to the ATA/IDE standards committees and the resulting standard was named S.M.A.R.T.
S.M.A.R.T. analyzes many of the mechanical attributes; over time, some failures can be predicted by detecting if the hard disk drive is moving out of tolerance. While the S.M.A.R.T. technology can detect upcoming issues, not all hard drive failures are predictable.

All this means on most modern drives is the hard drive is coming close to the maximum tolerances

I usually switch off in the bios smart monitoring.

This system is trying to predict a possible failure, which may or may not occur..
