Oh bleep, right? well, if you're lucky this will get you going again. 1. disconnect power to range. 2. remove back metal cover just above range power cord (usually 5 quarter inch hex screws) 3. look for burnt off wire leading to/from bake element. If yes, 4. strip ends of broken wire and splice with ceramic wire nut if no 4. bad news. replace ERC (electronic range control) you fried something on the board. It's got the clock display and all the electronics behind it.

This is a common but spectacular occurrence when a bake element fails. You can go to your local appliance parts store with your model # and they may have a replacement element in stock.
Remember to rinse the baking soda out prior to using the oven.

The coil in my oven caught on fire

You will need to replace the element, If it was just the lower bake element, it is a very easy repair, two screws and two wire connectors. UNPLUG the stove FIRST!!

While baking my wife noticed sparks coming out of the baking element or coil. can we continue to use the stove top or should we leave it unplugged.also how much does it cost to replace the element

It sounds like the element shorted out and needs replacement. I would not continue to use the oven, although it should be ok to use the stove.

It's difficult to say what a new element plus installation will be, but you can call around and get estimates. Have the model number, type and serial number available if possible before you call.

Baking element replaced but still won't heat

you may have triped half your 220v breaker. (you should have shut it off when reparieng wire or it would have been live and zaped you) Or something in line with the wire that shorted blew out like a fuse in the range.
