The circuit on the plug keeps tripping when I turn the unit on. Goldstar wg6007

most AC`s have a start capacitor at the compressor pump, if this start capacitor is defective your compressor will not start and cause it to draw more current than is normal, when you turn the unit on listen, if you notice a humming sound like an ac hum than this might be your problem, other units use a relay to start the compressor motor and if this relay is defective your compressor is remaining in the start winding position and will also consume excess current, obtain a diagram of your unit and this will indicate the type of start device employed and go from there

See if you can hear the compressor start, if that does not start and your fan hums, it is most likely your dual capacitor. If compressor starts and fan hums, it is most likely your fan.

New copeland compressor wont start

Hello,By all means install a hard start kit on the cap.Your wiring is correct.A scroll compressor usally doesn't need a start kit but I have seen 5 ton units that take one.Check the compressor tag and make sure the compressor is not a 3 phase motor!

Getting a hum from the condenser

thats it? you may be hearing the contactor relay which is fed power from inside (24v). could be a bad fuse which was caused by a bad or going bad compressor. possibly one of the terminals on the compressor (probably start) has burned off and grounded on the compressor which blew the fuses. Get an electric meter and test the fuses and if they are good, inspect the compressor and see what the wires look like. If they are good disconnect them and write down where they go. test the ohms between each terminal and list them on this site ill tell ya if you have a good or bad compressor. also test ohms from the ground to each terminal and if you get 0 on any terminal to ground your compressor is dead for sure...

A/c compressor hums

The compressor may be fine after setting off or a day. After retyring it then if it still dosnt start either replace the run capacitor to the compressor and fan motor or have it checked to see if it is in range.

The hum your hearing could that be the contactor relay humming?

Compressor makes a humming noise

Good guess! Without hearing it myself it is hard to say for sure. Be aware that there are many things that can cause the capacitor and compressor to fail. So the problem may be bigger then just the symptoms that you see/hear. Please call a licensed technician to take a look.
