I don't know what the 2:00 o'clock arrow is.
KM series Arrowhead is located to right side of timer dial.
To set clock, manually rotate timer dial clockwise until current time lines up with arrowhead

Just wired up the gp24 ,connected mains, switch and nuetral, working on manual mode but clock not turning

Reverse wires on terminals 3 and 4

1) GP24 appears to be 24-Hour version of Greenbrook T100 series mechanical timer, with Grasslin analog time dial.

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-set-timers.html

2) If clock is not rotating, then probably your wires are reversed.
Reverse wires on terminals 3 and 4.

3) Power from Mains, and wire to Load each have 2 wires.
Hot live from Mains connects to terminal 3
Neutral from mai9ns connects to terminal 1
Neutral going to load connects to terminal 1
Hot going to load connects to terminal 4

Our Intermatic clock operated switch Model T25/16FMD works and then stops. It is hanging up on something. You can spin it but it does not turn on and off the landscape lights. Any thoughts?

Replace timer.
Copy following link to identify timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#KM

If analog timer starts hanging, then motor is probably getting weak.
Use air pressure and blow out timer while rotating timer dial.
Turn power off and spay bit of highly flammable vapor from WD40 can while rotating timer dial.
Timers generally have 1 year limited warranty.
Replace timer.

Find the time now arrow to reset

1) Question posted under Woods 59017 analog timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59017

2) On the Woods 59017, the 'arrow' or triangle is a hollow triangle shape on inner timer dial. It points at the 3:00 position.
Manually rotate dial until current time lines up with arrow, arrowhead, or triangle.

3) On other analog timers, the time-now 'arrow' is usually small dark-colored triangle or arrowhead located on stationary part of inner dial.

4) Open following link to see how to set and use analog timers by experimenting with each feature.
Plus images of time-now arrowhead or triangle.

We have installed GM40 time. which control shaft on / off cycle i.e 4 hours on / 2 off. i checked selector switch postion, i.e continuous on (upper position) and continuous off (lower position) in this...

I have GM40 timer sitting in front of me.
I cannot understand your question because I do not know what the 'control shaft' is.
If you mean the black-colored FM1 clock dial with captive trippers, then this dial is supposed to rotate continually as long as timer has power.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/FM-1-Grasslin-Intermatic-20.jpg

Grasslin/Intermatic GM40 page
http://www.intermatic.com/products/grasslin/electromechanical%20time%20switches/multi-voltage%20time%20switches.aspx
The manual says quote:
With the manual switch in the middle position, the GM40 is in automatic mode and will switch at the programmed times. In the upper position "I", the load is permanently ON. In the lower position, "O", the load is permanently OFF. End quote.
In any switch position, the FM1 clock dial will continually rotate.

If your Load does not turn on-and-off according to the trippers set on FM1 clock dial, then 1) wiring is suspect or 2) if dip switches are not correctly set before applying voltage, and timer could be damaged.

The timer arrives with dip switches pre-set for 277Volts.

You can also manually rotate clock dial clockwise to observe when the load turns on-off.

Add a comment and give more information.
I would like to know what the 'control shaft' is, and what voltage you are using, and what dips switch setting you have, and which wires are connected to each terminal.

How to set the time and which is on out or in

pins IN = timer ON
pins OUT = timer OFF
Slide-switch must be pushed to right for timer to work
If dial is not rotating, wiring is incorrect (see below for wiring)

Grasslin and Paragon both offer multiple-gang timers.

Grasslin manual says:
" For example, to turn lights ON at 5:00pm and OFF at
11:00pm, leave inward the 18 trippers between 5 and
11 on the "pm" side of the dial.

Link to Grasslin manual

Wiring timer:
Timer black goes to Hot wire
Timer red (or blue) goes to Load
Timer white goes to Neutral (if no neutral, then connect to bare ground)
If timer dial does not rotate, black and red wires are reversed
