Question about Lexmark C530dn Laser Printer

Open Question

Grey background We have a new Lexmark C530dn that is printing a grey background on every page. It is especially bad on envelopes where the pattern of the fold from the back side shows up as an even darker background on the printed side. It looks like a mostly even "mist" of toner across the page.

I have the same "grey" background problem, especially on envelopes; when it is near time to replace the black cartridge, it gets even worse.

If the paper really is being burnt then there is a fault with the fuser roller temperature control. This would also make a smell. If this gray sheen is made of toner then this may be the laser unit not putting out enough power. The optics could be dirty. One thing to try before attempting repair- Reduce the print density to minimum in the printer advanced settings. This increases the Laser power. Good luck

SOURCE: My lexmark will print page, business cards, labels, pics, etc. But it will not print envelopes. Looks, sounds, and acts like its printing. But when it spits out the envelope nothing is printed on it.

There must be an issue with the size of the envelope the printer is expecting. If you're using Microsoft Word, check under "Letters and Mailings" and then "Evevolopes and Labels" to check the size you have set the envelope to. Perhaps its also a setting in File and Page Setup or in the printers own settings under Control Panel and Printers. Sorry for not being of more help but if its not jamming or giving an error then its probably just set to the wrong envelope size.

SOURCE: The Lexmark c530dn prints fine. Smudging down both sides.

Hello,

Your problem is caused by 2 worn photoconductor units. If you open the front door like you are changing toner, the photoconductor units will be mounted to the door that swings down. You will see should see four units one for each color, red, blue, yellow and black. If you look at the red and black units the ends will look different than the blue and yellow. The photo units have teflon coating that wears off and causes your proble. The replacement part number is C53030x and you will need 2 of them. Just replace the red and black ones and your printer will be back to normal. If you can't locate them locally, let me know and we can ship them to you.

Any marks on the paper come from the drum, this could be a circumferential scratch on the drum or a void in the wiper that clears the excess toner. Whatever, you need to check the drum and possibly need to replace it.

For details about how to load an envelope into the printer, see the user's manual.

The procedure for performing envelope printing is as follows:

1. Fold down the envelope flap.

2. When loading the envelope in the rear tray, orient the envelope so that the flap is on the left and the folded surface is facing down.

The pages come out with a grey tint. Can I clean

Remove the toner - using a can of air blow the printer out. I would really suggest after that trying a fresh toner.

Background

You need to clean nozzles. Go to canon tools and find clean nozzle option. Perfor operation a couple of times, just in case.
If this does not work you will need to open your priner, physically clean heads with a cloth. After this you may need to empty the waste ink tank inside the printer and eventually change the sponge inside it.
Hopefully we are in first scenario and you will fix it doing a simple nozzle/head clean from canon software in windows, without disassembling the printer.
